So I am still waiting to hear back from my RNY surgeon (I did ask him before posting here! haha), but I am taking tramadol and a muscle relaxer because I tripped and fell down and injured my back 3 nights ago. I was wondering if any of you know what you absolutely can't take before surgery (I know advil is a big no-no).

My surgery is Wednesday!!! I hope he gets back to me soon!

Go by what the surgeon says, but I was only asked to stop meds by 8 pm the night before surgery.

Alternating heat and ice helps.  Also I swear by Biofreeze.  Other than that the tramadol and muscle relaxer are what I do.  I hope you hear from the surgeon soon.

great tips, thanks!! My chiropractor told me the exact same thing about alternating heat and ice!

Still haven't heard from the surgeon!

I am on a number of similar things and aside from anything that thins your blood (wayfarin,  aspirin) I was told to take all my meds as required up until 8pm the night before. Don't worry you will be well taken care of during your hospital stay it will be working out the drug ratio you can manage to take post surgery that may need a little tweaking. Good luck
