If you have room on top of your desk you could use it to work out your arms too. Have you looked into getting elastic stretch bands? You can fit them in your bag/desk & work on strength too.

I think Melinda has something like that, though it may be an elliptical and not a bike.

Julie - I had the Cubii at my last job. I sold it to my SIL because now I'm in a cubicle environment and I can't really use it here. I loved it! I liked it so much more than the pedal type ones because of the way the feet were positioned. But of course it was pricey. I used it all the time.

Ooh this looks cool, were you able to get a good workout on it?, or was it mostly something to keep your legs from getting restless. You're right it sure is pricey, but this other guy on my job might like it since he needs to strengthen his ankles/achilles tendon, he might split the cost with me since we share a desk.

Interesting, Julie. I can think of a few students who would really benefit from this as well. I wonder how it would register (if at all) on a Fitbit.

You would have to wear your Fitbit on your shoe I think.

I had one at my last job. I could not use it while working too much for these reasons:

  1. My knee**** the top of the desk while pedaling.
  2. I was just moving too much to be able to view the computer or type effectively.
  3. Also, you will scoot backwards if you are using a chair with wheels.

I ended up using it when I was on the phone for a conference call and did not have to speak too much. Kept a non-wheeled chair in my cube just for this purpose.

 

I give it a 5/10.

I don't have one of those -- but I do have a treadmill desk -- if you are ever interested about one of those.  I have found that if I am fidgety or stressed, it really helps to work while walking --

I work best with a sit to stand desk. I like to work standing up and walking around....I get figgity...not because of psych meds...but too much diet coke!
