Oscars

I love an award show, but usually just sit in my PJs oohing and aahing at the fashion choices and yes, my viewing does start at the Red Carpet.

I try and see at least a few of the movies up for an award - I liked Moonlight, Hacksaw Ridge and Manchester By The Sea.  I do think Casey Affleck will win Best Actor, but expect La La Land to sweep otherwise.

Anyone doing anything exciting or have predictions?   Any bets on who does the biggest political acceptance speech a la Streep?

I liked La La Land, but didn't love it. It was an old-timey throwback movie, and I think it appeals because of that nostalgia. "Make the movies great again" maybe.

To me, it was like the black and white silent movie that won a bunch of awards a few years back. Nice, but not great.

I liked Manchester By The Sea, but god, was it depressing.

The scene where Casey Affleck met Michelle Williams in town after the tragedy had me absolutely bawling.  In the movie theatre.  On my own.  Not a pretty sob, but full on blabbering snotfest!!!!

The scene in the police station was the one that almost did me in.

I haven't seen Hacksaw Ridge or Fences yet, but they are at the top of my list. I just saw Lion last weekend. You'll have a big old cry at that one!

I figure La La Land will win because the Academy loooooves movies about movies.

Thanks for the heads up on the "cry" movies.  Since ET and Saving Private Ryan, I won't see a movie that makes me cry.  Both of them I cried until I had no tears left, then kept on crying.  I prefer action and mystery...

I'm a doofus...I haven't seen ANY of this year's nominated movies...so I guess I don't care who wins...

I always love the clothes...and wonder WTH some of them were thinking...and  wondering how they can walk/stand in those shoes...

As for the speeches...sigh...just say THANK YOU...especially to the people who paid money to see you do your JOB...not ME, of course...who kept "fixin' to go", to see your movie :)
