I woke up with a sore throat and am scheduled for VSG Monday at 5:45am. If I have to put this off I think I will have a COME APART! I have everything ready for the kids and etc. etc. etc, plus I have beeb starving for he past 2 weeks. I just started pounding down the water, Emergency/Vit C and Zinc and Essential Oils. Do you have any suggestions? A week ago my kids had a sore throat that turned into a head cold later that day and lasted 2 days, I though I had dodged it because they got it the day after eachother and I didn't. I asked them and I as soooo good about washing my hands, I'm a bit of a clean freak as it is and thought I will be ok. I assume I cannot have surgery if I have a cold?????? I'm hoping I can kick it - suggestions?? I do not want to re-schedule, he is a month and a half out.

Was not able to get ahold of him, but called the surgery center and a nurse spoke to an anesthesiologist. He said to continue doing the zinc, Vit C, Essential Oils and lots of water. If there is no infection or fever I am good to go--crossing my fingers!!

Unless you have an active infection, surgery will go ahead

If they cancelled surgery for everyone who had a bit of a cold, there would be scheduling chaos!!! It's the anesthesiologist's call whether your ok for surgery in this cir****tance, not the surgeon (they're the one who'll keep you breathing and alive!), so I'm sure you'll be good to go!

Good luck for Monday x

Your surgery will happen unless you have a bacterial URI. Ask the sand man to give you something to dry you out when he puts you to sleep. It will last for 24 hours.

I had a bad cough for 2 weeks before surgery and they went ahead with it because I had no fever or infection, just cough.

I was thrilled they went ahead with it, but let me tell you, coughing after surgery is not fun, lol.

Good luck with your surgery tomorrow!
