I know a lot of people who have had the sleeve, what is the difference between the sleeve and the switch?

The sleeve is the first portion of the switch. The DS has a sleeve as well as a change in the intestines.

The sleeve restricts the amount that you can eat. The DS keeps what you eat from being completely absorbed.

The website dsfacts.com will explain everything about DS.

I've had the DS (duodenal switch) for over 12 years now. White Dove gave you some good suggestions to learn more, and if you go up to the Forums link at the upper-left of the screen, you'll find community forums for each procedure, including DS and sleeve. Feel free to ask me anything about the DS.

The initial results are the same. With the VSG you basically have to manage your calories for the rest of your life. The DS allows a lot more "wiggle room" because of malabsorption.

I've had the DS for 11 years. I've maintained a 300 lb weight loss for that amount of time.
