Update for members with Medicaid that live in the state of LA

Hi Members

As most of you know Dr. Dominguez was the only surgeon we were aware of that took Medicaid in the state of LA. If you know differently please me. As of 2 weeks ago they are no longer taking Medicaid.

Dr. Perez in Thibodaux, LA does take all LA Medicaid with the exception of Louisiana Healthcare Connection. They got hit with so many calls/new patients that they are booked until 2018. His main practice is not weight loss surgery. Stacey in the office said to call back in 3 months for an update as they are trying to locate a Bariatric surgeon to join the practice.

It's very sad to me, that a state that suffers some of the highest obesity and poverty rates in the country, has only one bariatric surgeon available to arguably the most vulnerable populations.

Kat, sadly it's becoming the norm.... The states pay so little that a surgeon just can't make ends meet
