NSV

Hi everyone. My best NSV. I fell off my bicycle going 22 mph and crashed on the sidewalk. I went to work that afternoon, no problem. Later after work, I settled in the chair and read my fav forums and then tried to get up. I couldn't move. It was like when your back goes out and you can barely move 1/4 inch. My left finger felt like a root canal and I cried. It was more pain than any surgery I have ever had. I couldn't get the cap off the Tylenol bottle, I couldn't sit down to pee. I was miserable. My husband came home and helped me with ice, tylenol and he had a muscle relaxer. I felt good enough to go to the doctor where he x-rayed everything. My tummy where the handlebars went, my wrists and hip/butt area. Only damage is a torn ligamint on my left thumb. I got my own muscle relaxers, steroids to reduce swelling and lidocane for local pain. As a side note, I bicycle a lot, last year about 4000 miles. I have fallen and ripped off a thumb nail and had to use duct tape to secure it until I bicycled to the ER when I was on a bike ride in Texas.

But my NSV, is that I didn't eat to smother the pain. This is such a big NSV for me. I have always eaten when I am in pain or sick. This is the second time since surgery that I didn't turn to food. It is normal to not want to eat, it is normal for a normal person to not even think about food when they are hurt. I love being normal. I even lost 2 pounds. This is so exciting, that I don't mind the discomfort (pain) from typing this post.

Awe, well thank you!!!

You can do it too! It's scary, and it's NOT the easy way out... and for me, the biggest hill to climb will be never-ending... not gaining it back!

Hang in there, you're soon to be on the best ride of your life!
