How much should I be losing

So I had my RNY surgery 2 and a half weeks ago. I was 339 going into the hospital 346 leaving they said it was all the fluids. Now I'm 324, I feel like I'm not losing fast enough. What's the normal rate of weight to lose in the first month.

I have not had my surgery but you are down 15lbs from when you went into the hospital. That is 0.85lbs per day (2.3lbs/day counting the additional water/swelling). From what I have observed on the boards, and like everything else in life, we are all different.

I assume the vets will say that if you follow the program and are honest with yourself it will come off how your body is meant to drop the lbs.

How much? Whatever is the right amount for your body. Everyone loses at a different rate so there is no formula to predict what is right for you or anyone else.

There is no "normal" rate, though. Stick to the plan, you'll lose the weight.

You need to touch base with your surgeon and "qualify" this question with s/he. It is totally different from patient to patient.

15 pounds in 2.5 weeks is really good.

On 600 pound life they lose 30 pounds usually the first month and most of them are in the 500 pound range when they have surgery.

What number would make you happy?

When you are recovering, missing chewing and in pain, no number is going to seem satisfactory. Give it time.

Losing the fluid weight after surgery counts...it can take some people (like me) a week just to get that back off. So you've lost 22 pounds in 2.5 weeks. That sounds pretty amazing to me!

Ideally a pound a day is the standard!

I lost 280 pounds, and never lost more than 5 pounds in a week. 3 or 4 were good weeks.

I don't know anyone who lost a pound a day for any length of time.
