Blah blah blah, neverending criticism

The mother-daughter relationship is hard.

You look awesome, your Mom is out of line.

That being said, you need to figure out what the best response is for your situation. I have a different set of issues with my Mom, frustrating in their own way. Having it out with her wouldn't make the situation better, and it would make a lot of things much worse. So I've found other ways to take care of myself and manage the interactions that work for our situation. I hope you are able to find the same, whether that's a confrontation or some other intervention. It's hard.

I can relate. My mother has been my biggest weight critic. She was raised by a very abusive mother and has battled her own self image issues her whole life. I recognize it is her issue and just decided not to make it mine. I still get irritated by the comments, but not upset...again she is just replying her own tapes..she can't help it. I tend to just ignore.

I think if not eating disordered she is close. She is a size 4. She was excited to give me her "fat clothes" a size 8. When I told her I was a size 6 she said "be careful not to lose too much you will start looking old". Full head shaker! She hasn't seen me in about 30lbs...I'll see her in a month so I have no idea how she will react.

You look amazing. That's all I have to add to everyone else's comments.

You look beautiful and healthy. Sorry for the challenges with your mom.

Agreed that these relationships are hard. As a mom of 4 (1 daughter)--parenting is the hardest thing ever! Parenting teens and young adults anyway.

I have been in therapy myself for 3 years, for how my daughter treats me. Yet I know she finds me difficult. That is why I have sought therapy--what am I doing to cause her to say and feel such hateful things toward me? How do I set boundaries? No matter what way the challenges in a relationship go, we all have to set boundaries. Very hard to do in our most intimate relationships, because we want boundaries, yes, but we also crave being totally loved and connected.

i am sure you will figure out how to handle the feelings and the relationship.

You look fabulous. I assume your mother thinks you are too thin. Bullpucky, Since my mother lives 1800 miles away, I didn't tell her about my wls since she always used to try to talk me out of any decision I made. So I went back to visit after I was at goal or pretty close. Surprised her with my weight loss. Told her what I did and she was positive. But I know she would have argued with me had we discussed it ahead of time.

So if your mother asks about size, I would say "its a size 4 (or whatever) and I feel great in it and don't want to hear any unkind remarks about my size". But easier said than done. GL. Don't let mom derail you. Your mother looks lovely as well so I don't understand why she would bug you. Some mothers are wired that way. Diane S

When I first lost weight my Mom asked who are you and what did you do with my daughter! She did not see me gradually, only pictures...since she moved down South years ago and I am in CT. Now always asks on phone if I am keeping it off etc! And recently taking off some regain, so fun!!! Lol! Yes Moms are annoying I pray I don't do that ever to my 2 girls!
