Victory: Maintenance while "On The Road"

Context: I had surgery on 3/21/2016. I've lost about 180lbs and have been in maintenance since early December, 2016.

I'm really pleased that I've been able to "weather" the last month, as it has been the most challenging so far in my maintenance journey and wanted to share my success!

Basically, I have been out of town traveling, either for work of for vacation most of the last month. In fact, I looked back and I was out of town 22 of the last 31 days. 14 of those days were on business (and 9 of those were on a cruise ship). The other 8 days were vacation (a weekend in Chicago and few days at a family member's cottage).

When I weighed myself this morning, I was exactly .5lbs less than I was 31 days ago! Success!

It definitely presented some challenges. I packed/brought/bought as much food as I could when I was at locations that allowed for this. Other than that, I just tried to make the best choices possible with what was presented to me.

As pretty much everyone who has gone through this process can attest, maintenance is far harder than the weight loss phase. These are the times in the past that I would have completely fallen off the wagon. I would have made every excuse in the book to make poor food choices, telling myself I would "get back to it" next week. Then another week would go by....and another..... But not this time. I made exceptions to my normal eating regiment, but I tried to make consistently good choices.

I'm only 7 months into maintenance, and have a long, long road ahead of me, but I am feeling pretty good that I was able to make it through the last month successfully!

Good for you!

I too just finished a marathon travel schedule of being 'on the road'... when I left on June 15th I was 137.2. This morning, after being out of town and not eating as I should have (but still making plenty of good choices along the way), I weighed in at 138.8.

I feel successful with it, but even more... SO HAPPY to be back on my schedule of eating good, home cooked meals!

I actually would sit and day dream about coming home and cooking

You did great, be proud!

I can totally relate! Any time I leave home, I am always so happy to get back to my normal food and routine - it's a huge relief!!!

Nice! I had a similar experience while away for essentially 3 weeks. I hope we can continue to do this for the rest of our lives!
