Face aging (post op)

Hi there

Has anyone experienced sudden aging of their face after the surgery?

I've always had youthful skin and was often told I looked 10 years younger than I really was (I'm 38). I put this down to genetics and the fullness in my face probably.

I saw some photos of myself from a few recent events and when I am smiling now I swear I look like Gollum around the eyes. My cheekbones are very pronounced now and when I smile my eyes appear sunken and wrinkles are very pronounced. This was a real shock to me i feel like I've aged 20 years.

I take a skin supplement, collagen and evening primrose capsules as well as have a good skincare regime. I include good fats such as avocado, salmon, nuts in my diet.

Any ideas why this has become so pronounced and suggestions on how I can combat it?

Thank you!

I don't know how you combat it, or even if you can. But I do know that the majority of us seem to look a little haggard for a few months as we get down towards goal. After a year or two our weight begins to re-distribute a bit and our faces fill back out.

Just one of those things I think.

Thanks Amy. I am 10 months out so hoping it does fill out again over the next couple years.

I had my surgery on June 20th by-pass and is it common to be tired.

I lost 33 lbs since my surgery and people have noticed I still drink the shakes once in awhile, but I do get sick from certain foods, clothes are big which is nice went down three sizes.

I only eat 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of three to four times a day I hope it gets better

Sue you said : I only eat 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of three to four times a day I hope it gets better

Is it you are missing eating more in volume, and have not adjusted to being full so fast? or something else?

thanks

If anything, I look 10-15 years younger.

The quick weight loss does make us look gaunt usually, I also feel over time it gets better.

Go to an OH convention sometime. There is a certain common look people get during the rapid weight loss phase. Same people a year later look normal.

You are young so that is a bonus.

I wish I could! I'm from New Zealand so it's not likely but I love to read/ see the pics about it.
