I've always had a love/hate relationship with boots. My ankles/calves were always so much bigger than "normal people's" and boots never fit. But I love them, and was always on the search for ones that would fit me.
We had a cold snap this week, and today is jeans day. So I dug my brown lace-up boots out of the back of the closet and dusted them off. Since they have a side zipper, the laces haven't been re-tied in ages. (I don't think it got cold enough last year to dig them out.) They were too loose, so I went to re-tighten and tie them.
One of the ways I got around my ankle/cankle size with these particular boots was to tie it off without the last set of eyelets laced. This morning, all of the eyelets laced and tied off, and the boots don't have a wierd widening of the laces at the top like they used to. They fit like "normal people" boots.
I was so excited I had to go show hubby before he left for work. :)
This weekend I'm going to get out my knee boots. I actually had found a place that carried them large enough for my calves. I know they'll have to be re-laced as well, and I'm just hoping that they'll tighten down enough. While I would love to go shopping for new knee boots, they're not in the budget right now.
This opens up whole new options for footwear for me.
Oh, and this is more of a PITA than a victory, but I also have to buy all new dress shoes. Apparently I was never truly an 11, I was having to size up because of my width. I'm literally walking out of all of my dress shoes. My budget is likely sunk for the next couple of years updating my wardrobe. :)
It was a great day when I was able to ditch all of the wide-calf boots I had and replace them (still working on that) with regular calf boots!

What a great feeling! I feel your boot pain... I don't have any fat on my calves, but they are muscular and I'm not a small woman, so boots have never fit me well. I wish they did!

Mine aren't as cute as yours... I'll post pics of my knee boots this weekend. They're much cuter, though really just plain black suede. :)
Was hoping there would be a picture!!! During our cold snap, I was dressed as Cinderella--not a good time for "glass slippers" AKA clear "jelly" shoes!!

I learn something new, EVERY day, from SOME body
I ended up not going anywhere this weekend, just stayed curled up on the couch with my heated throw. :D The boots will come out this week though... stay tuned. :D
They don't fit anymore. Not even close.
Which of course is a NSV except for the whole budget thing. I probably won't be able to replace them until next fall. Or maybe if there's a sale in the Spring... hmmmmm....
