NSV: first Half Marathon! + and WE ADOPTED!!

Last May or so (I think?) I started the Couch to 5k. All I wanted was to be able to run a 5k (3.1miles) without stopping. I finished the program and started slugging out 5k races every few weeks, and was not very good at them either. I started to do a little better and then got motivated by a runner I follow on instagram after she posted her half marathon picture (she is a bariatric patient as well). I commented congratulations, and she encouraged me to train and do it as well. So, I did! Finished in 2:30:30, trying to take it slow to not exhaust myself and not enjoy it. I hit a wall at 11miles and got tired, but the last 1.2 mi was the absolute worst

I signed up and started training with my local Fleet Feet (running store) for an 18 week program for a Half Marathon on March 4 in my area, but then on New Years day I won a raffle for an entry into another Half Marathon on Jan 14, so I went for it! My last couple weeks of training have been pretty bad as I've not been getting my miles in as we have been driving to see our daughter we adopted on January 4 - Elisha Jo. She's 1.5 hours south in a hospital still so its a lot of time on the road, but she should be coming home soon. Born Dec 24, 2017

Been poking around here and reading posts some, glad to see everyone is doing well (or great!)

Keep at it, newbies!

Thank you :) we are really excited. We have been working for last 1.5 years, almost two, to adopt from Bulgaria and then on Jan 4 we got a call about this little girl. We were expecting to adopt ~2-3 year old child, not an infant! But we're so happy to have an infant :)

When we first started the process, we were planning to adopt sibling toddlers from Korea. When our agency asked us about a newborn "domestic" adoption we had to really think about it. I do believe that the child meant to come to your family ends up there.

Congrats!! Adoption is such a blessing! I's been 14 years since my #1 (Kazakhstan) came home and 11 years since #2 (China). I also believe the children meant to be ours will find us
