Yeah, the root was between Kate and her mother. Dad's death just took an existing major issue and threw it over the cliff.

Yeah.

The root is that Kate is jealous/angry because her mother was/is more talented, has a stronger and nicer personality, is more attractive, is less whiny, and thinner than she is.

WAH.

I have yet to see a single action that Kate's mother has done that wasn't motivated by a deep love for her children. Even her mistakes/bad decisions have been ultimately driven by that love -- never by bad intent or cruelty. I mean, what was she supposed to do when she saw her daughter heading towards obesity?? -- it wasn't like she was fat-shaming her.

I wish everyone had such a terrible mother to blame their problems on.

Too bad it wasn't Rebecca that died in the fire. Who would she blame her life on then?

I'm guessing the show is moving towards her life as a single mother raising 3 teenagers, & the relationship that starts to take root & bloom with the best friend. That should be interesting & hard.

I really like this show but the only time it has made me cry was when Kevin was on his knees crying out about the necklace that he lost in that woman's house. I am not a fan of Kate. The best one in the show is Toby, I keep saying I want a Toby of my own someday!

I could have (maybe) overlooked her "poor me" whining if she had appreciated Toby. I've met my "Toby" and I hope you meet one too!

I love This is Us and record every episode. I would like to see the story line of how Miguel and the Mom Rebecca got together. That should be interesting. I love every episode, but I cried when Rebecca told Randall that she didn't love him at first but he became her world later and I burst into tears watching their faces as humans and not just actors.

I also loved, when during Group, Kate ask Madison(?) to say something silly (to break the tension)and she said her wrists are getting fat and meant it. I love to hear what Madison says during group sessions.

Do you mean Deja? Randall has 2 daughters & was looking to adopt a child. Kinda mimicking the big 3 that his father did with him. Deja was the one who might've been adopted by them, but her mom got out of jail & wanted to raise her & she went with her. I'm guessing something has gone wrong.

I did like that it looked like he was going to adopt the little boy & Deja shows up. I usually watch the show via Hulu sans commercials.

You were looking at the present and the future... when you saw the little boy getting adopted it was Tess, his daughter in the future as a Social Worker helping the little boy find a home. At the end Randall walked in for them to go to dinner. Remember he said when she grew up they would have dinner once a week...

Should be interesting to see the kids grown.....
