Does anyone take Ferrex 150? I've always taken Feramax 150 and was told about Ferrex 150 which is the generic brand. I got these and started taking them but can't seem to get them down. From day one I was told to open the capsule and mix the powder with OJ. I've had no problem doing this until I just switched to Ferrex150. Now, with this generic brand I feel like my throat burns and I have a really nasty after taste. Any suggestions??

Try drinking with something besides orange juice.

Iron is better absorbed if taken with vitamin C, and at least 2 hours from taking calcium, or eating foods with calcium, as well as coffee, tea, soy, and several other things.

You should be taking 200mg of vitamin C for every 30mg of elemental iron. So for Ferrex or Feramax 150, you'd need 1,000 mg of vitamin C, or 2 generic 500mg vitamin C tablets. To get 1,000 mg of vitamjin C from orange juice, you'd need twelve 8 ounce glasses of OJ. That is also 1300 calories.

O.J. is really high in sugar and calories. It's about as nutritious as a full sugar can of pepsi. Try something different.
