My goal weight is 160lbs, I now weight 158. The work of maintenance starts now and I know it's going to be hard. Thank you guys for your support over this journey. I have learned so much and have made what I consider great friends. I want to just list some of the things that have changed for me coming from 485 lbs to my goal weight, some are tiny others are huge. I'll start with the huge ones

  1. Confidence. I have my own voice to be my own person. While I am still a more passive person in general, I will stand up for myself and my needs.
  2. Health. I can breathe, walk, run, get down on the floor to clean (so fun, I know) spend the day without worrying if there's a place for me to sit. I can just live my life! This includes my emotional health, which is both better from weight loss and getting the therapy I need.
  3. Work. I was unable to work at my size and my mental state before. Severe depression and ptsd kept me house bound mainly. Now I am fully employed and will be returning to school for nursing.

Those are the three major ones, the best things that have changed! Minor ones will always include our familiar fitting into booths, buying clothes I like, crossing my legs, having an actual lap to sit things on, wearing my seat belt, and being able to travel.

For people just starting out if you read this, tools that are absolutely a must in my opinion (and many other's): a food scale. Don't guess your calories and weights. A calorie tracker like myfitnesspal, or loseit. Whatever you use, keep track! For me, personally, a mini-fridge or separate unit from the kitchen fridge. I keep my pre-made foods and things I absolutely need in a fridge in my room. While I do keep things in the main one as well, I know there is a high chance of it being eaten and then I get very upset over it. Sugarfree to-go sticks of crystal light, or some sort of drink additive. Also, straws. I know every program says no straws, but I have a harder time without one.

Goal weight reached, now the hard part begins, and I have my entire life to live it and keep my freedom. I'm excited.

Yes!!! Wonderful. Congrats, warrior. You've won your life back. Joy!

P.s. I?m the same with straws! I just ordered a bunch of silicon and stainless steel reusable ones from amazon. My nut might not like it, but I?m telling ya?I?m way less burpy when I use them.
