Fiber?

Hello!

Just wondering how everyone gets their fiber. Most days I get less than 5 gms. Not really able to eat fruit and vegetables because the protein fills me up and I have no room.

I know this is TMI but I'm not really regular regular. I maybe go like every 3 days or so. Sometimes I get gassy and crampy. Thought some regularity may help with this.

I have a protein shake for breakfast every morning, since I've never liked solid food in the morning, so I add 2 tablespoons of benefiber to my shake. This works really well for me. Of course, I'll also add 1/2-1 dose of miralax into my shake, but I maybe do that 75% of the time these days.

Thanks for the tip. I'm having trouble with shakes. Just find them hard to drink. I'll look into the Miralax option.

Thanks Gwen, I don't know why but I've been hesitant to combine the benefiber and the miralax in one cup of coffee; not sure what I thought would happen, lol.

Fat and hydration are also key ingredients to healthy digestion. Are you getting plenty of those, or deficient there too? You may need a supplement for this if you can't find something to help. Try different veggies that aren't as filling. One of my favorites are roasted crispy kale chips (just coat with oil an salt and bake until crispy). For me they are totally addictive. I will eat an entire plant while working if I'm not careful.

Thanks! I looked at MFP and I seem to average around 40 grams of fat per day. I have no idea how much fat I should be eating. Hydration is really good. I get about 80 to 100 oz per day.

I love the kale chip idea. I'll try that this weekend!

Testify! I got back to normal after weeks of awful backup shortly after I increased my hydration and healthy fats (avocado, olive oil).

My doctor said it was safe to take miralax daily, so I do. I go at least once a day now.

I take miralax too... not daily but when I notice I "need" it!!! And I am at this a while.
