I'm with Kim. You have lost a lot of weight very quickly so I bet your body is just adjusting. We have seen it a lot here.

I am glad your doctor is doing an ultrasound just to be sure.

I don't think I ever had my bilirubin checked, but a couple of my other liver enzyme levels (ALT was one - don't remember the other) were really high until year 2. They're back to normal now. I was also told that it was most likely the rapid weight loss - as Kim said, it's really hard on your liver. So hopefully that's all it is with you, too.

My cholesterol went from 152 pre surgery to over 300 at my 1 year post op visit. It finally corrected itself and I'm now sitting in the 150s which is fine with all my doctors

Pre-WLS, my bilirubin has occasionally been high; however, my PCP has never expressed concern about it.

Recent post-op levels for BILIRUBIN, TOTAL mg/dL (range 0.2 to 1.2)

10/2/17: 1.3

5/8/18: 1.5

My liver enzymes were slightly elevated after year one for several years. They are now back to normal.

Edited to add: I had heard of this but wanted to find a reference that weight loss itself can cause a temporary rise in cholesterol
