    Topic: RE: nausea

Protein shakes do not settle very well for me.  I have to drink them slowly and sometimes eat a saltine to help.

    Topic: RE: Showers at hospital
Your hair and a shower will be the last thing on your mind.  Take a shower the morning of then realize you won't care how bad you look for a couple of days.

Topic: RE: What do you say to people when they aren't supporting you?
Some people who say this to you are people who don't want to see you hurt.  Surgery is a big deal and people who love and are close to you are going to try and keep you safe and sometimes that is trying to get you from having the surgery.

Topic: RE: how do you get it all in?????
I look for foods with high protein, I eat a Greek Yogurt for breakfast, a cheese stick and an egg for my 2 snacks and my meals are usually some form or white meat or a protein shake.  I also have a water bottle with me at all times and I just keep sipping.  You will get it.  I just takes time to get your routine down.

Keep us posted.  I'm just wondering how you can clean your house and live with teenagers and keep food in the house?  I might have to take notes from you on that one.  Good luck today and can't wait to hear how you are doing when you can post afterwards.

    Topic: RE: Not losing
Of course the running can help.  Lord knows it can't hurt.  You are doing amazing well in just 3 weeks.  Its hard because we watch it fall so quickly in the begining and then drag on and sometimes stop.  I'm 12 weeks out and I am now I am losing about 2 lbs per week.  Yes I wish I could lose more but I'm happy just not gaining it. Take a deep breath and realize you are losing.  Keep up the good work.

Topic: RE: I need advice on lap band surgery
Hello.  These forums offer so much advice and personal stories.  Remember that this is your body and your decision.  Please research and talk to your surgeon.  Also a great percentage of people who have died with WLS already had some other type of medical condition. Yes the surgery has risks but so does obesity.  Do not take this decision lightly. It is a decision that will affect you for the rest of your life.

Topic: RE: Need help - am losing hair

Topic: RE: where do I start??? HELP!!!!
Have you tried Yoga?  I do it and it is nice because it can be modified to any level and I feel sore and worked out when I leave.  You seem to still be pushing forward and that is great.

Side effects of the meds are not in your favor but reducing the amount of pain is.  You should meet with your doctor and let him know what is going on.  He should have some advice and since he specializes in the surgery he knows what your body absorbs and does well with.  You can not be the only patient he has ever had that has gained weight due to meds.   Good luck and keep us posted.

Topic: RE: Did you give up these things???

You might be like most of us when after surgery you try and drink soda and feel the pain.  Giving that up or cutting back right now is probably a good idea.  As for everything else.  I have to have my Splenda I put it in my greek yogurt otherwise I can't stand the taste.  I have tried to limited my caffeine and I think I have done wonderful with that.  I hope to not ever need it like before surgery.  Since loosing so much weight I have more energy which I hope compensates for the lack of caffeine.  If anyone tries to even touch my chocolate they will probably loose an arm.  So I do have chocolate.  That craving never went away and I enjoy a mini hershey 3x per week.  Yes it isn't much but it is enough to make me happy.  Hang in there and make the dietician happy.

    Topic: RE: BUTTER?
How about a pkg of Splenda instead?  It is will sweeten it up without the fat.

Topic: RE: hate mail over wls
That is one classy person who sent you that.  I bet it took them hours with dictionaries trying to find the right words and spell them.  You knew by sharing your WLS you were going to get some crap from someone.  We all have haters and hypocrates in our lives.  With that one persons reply how many happy ones did you get?  I'll be a supporter of your surgery.
