    Topic: Plastic Surgeon References!

I am ready to get rid of this skin and live in the Delaware Valley.  Any recommendations for a surgeon in the NJ/PA/DE area?   I checked here but there are so very few and the patient reviews are pretty old. Thanks for any help!

    Topic: Time Out details, please

Hi everyone I will be a year out on the 20th and have done great but the weight loss has pretty much come to a halt and I don't feel I'm finished yet.  I would like to lose at least another 20 lbs.   I've gotten a bit laxed in my eating.  I'm fine during the day at work but I'm having a problem with grazing at night.  Crackers are my demon for sure.  Pretzels as well....  I see everyone talking about Time Out and wondered if there is a link to a full explanation of what this is all about and exactly how I can do it.  Is it too soon or even necessary at a year out to do this? I need to get my head back in the right place, this much I realize but I'm wondering if my pouch needs some adjusting also.  I can eat well over 8 oz of food before feeling full... and obviously with grazing I can go on forever.  I'm getting pretty mad at myself to be honest! I'd appreciate any helpful advice.  Thank you. Bev

Topic: RE: Calcium!?!? What kind do you take????

Oh!  I like the idea of a powder I can toss in a protein shake especially if it has little effect on flavor.  The price is great also, $22.00 for 227 servings (4 months supply of 1000 mg/day!) as opposed to most other forms of calcium citrate at $15 a month.  Thank you all very much!

Topic: Calcium!?!? What kind do you take????

    Hi everyone!

I know this has been asked a million times but the search feature brings up very old replies when I try using it.

I was looking for suggestions for some calcium supplements.  I know it has to be calcium citrate and I did find some chewables put out by Nutraceutical Sciences Institute but wow,  they really suck!  Nasty, chalky things!  Blah!    I will force the month's worth down but I would like to find something easier to take next month!

I would also like to know where you get them, if online a link would be great!

    Thanks in advance!

    Beverly

    Topic: RE: Jerky!?!?

Thanks to everyone for all the responses and help!  Walmart is right down the road so I'll be checking it out later today!   I'm having a terrible time finding things that taste good to me so I was hoping jerky would be a solution!

    Topic: Jerky!?!?

I looked in my supermarket at the various beef jerky's and they all seemed very high in fat and especially sugar!  I was wondering what brands people prefer and where do I find it?

    Topic: Recipes??? Please!!!

I'm 6 weeks out and can tolerate everything, it seems.  No dumping or vomitting but I haven't pushed the envelope either so that's probably why...lol.  My problem is that nothing tastes good to me!  I can't seem to figure out what to eat!  This is my first week eating regular foods and I'm clueless!

I was hoping for everyone's favorites!  Especially the quickie meals for lunch or breakfast!  Favorite snacks too!

    Thank you,

    Beverly

Topic: RE: Why do we throw up after wls?

Hi Annette I'm just past 5 weeks out and haven't thrown up once.  My surgeon has a really strict 6 week diet though, so maybe that has helped.  I just began soft foods this week.  I've also been very careful in regards to fat and sugar content.  I chew everything until it is mush and so far it's worked for me!  I had one moment where I felt some roast beef get kinda stuck.. so I took a tiny sip of water and that seemed to move it along.  I also had a moment when eating chicken that my son had cooked in some special sauce he made.. it was a fleeting yet intense feeling of nausea which I don't care to explore again!  Whoa!  I kept eating the chicken but left the sauce alone and I was fine.  Last night I was kinda gulping some water down and suddenly, as my mouth was full, some came back up.. I was like.. "Uh oh!" and had to spit it all out in the sink..LOL  That was kinda weird but apparently I got a little carried away and drank too fast!  It's definitely all a learning experience!!! It has almost been so easy for me that I wonder if my tool works!  I do get hungry every few hours and can eat 1/2 cup or so of food with no problem... just makes me wonder but I'm losing so I guess I can't complain! The Doc and Nut say this is how it should ideally go for someone and usually will if they follow the program and don't try to push the envelope.  So ultimately it's up to you!!

    Topic: ***Binder Question!!!!***

    Hi everyone!

I had my open RNY surgery almost 4 weeks ago and I'm still wearing this stupid binder!  I am afraid to take it off or something!   How long did everyone wear theirs???   It feels so weird when I take it off... yet it's getting on my last nerve riding up and bunching and stuff.

Last week I had a little tiny hole open up in my incision which freaked me out until I found out it's normal.  It looks closed today but I'm afraid going without the binder will make it open again.

I just don't know what to do.  I feel so confused.

Topic: RE: **Freaking out here!!! Please Help!!!**

Thanks everyone for the responses.  Thank God for this site, I can't say that enough!

The hole is just a little pinhole.  It's at the very top of my incision which is not always in the binder because I am constantly tugging it down!  I think I'll be more careful about that now and keep the top nice and tightly bound.  There is some redness but not what I would think is alarming.  No leakage or odor.

I didn't have any staples or stitches, my surgeon uses steri-strips. The one that was covering this hole was not even stuck to my skin anymore but held in place by a diagonal piece of tape on top (hope that made sense)  so I carefully removed the loose piece of tape which looked ready for the trash.

I swear it looks a little better already now that I showered and removed the old tape, covered it with gauze and wrapped it tightly in my binder.

Yes, I think I might try a little neosporin on it.

Topic: **Freaking out here!!! Please Help!!!**

I'm sure I'm over-reacting but my biggest fear with the surgery was infection.  Today I was about to jump in the shower, so I take my binder off and I have this little hole at the top of my incision which wasn't there before!!

I'm 3 weeks out from surgery and have had no complications whatsoever.  I called my surgeon but he didn't seem concerned at all.

Now what about this little hole?  Has anyone else had this happen???
