    Topic: RE: gestational diabetes

YOU CANNOT DO IT!!  You need to get a note from your surgeon to take to your OB dr to let them know you cannot drink the glucola!!  I just had to do a few fasting blood sugars to make sure they were ok.  I actually developed the opposite while pregnant.  I am hypoglycemic.  And still am after my pregnancy.   Good luck Kourtney

Topic: How to start new forum?????

I was just wonder how to go about getting a hold of someone to start a new forum for all the people who are running into hypoglyemia.  It seems like we are getting more and more people who are runninginto this problem following RNY surgery.   Kourtney

    Topic: RE: HYPOGLYCEMIA AND PRECOSE

I become hypoglycemic after surgery, I had surgery 11-04, got pregnant 5/05 and that is when it developed.  I have had readings as low as 14!  It is miserable, and I feel horrible most of the time, very fatigued and I never know when an episode will happen.  So  I can't wait to see how this med is going to work.

    Topic: RE: Hypoglycemia

Vicki- My heart goes out to you, it is unfortunate that you developed this but it is becoming more and more common among RNY patients.  I had surgery 11-04 and got pregnant 5/05 which brought mine on.  I have had readings as low as 14.  I just recently saw my endocrinologist and she just called me today and is starting my on Precose to stablize my blood sugars.  I am to take 1 pill prior to eating and it is suppose to slow the digestion of carbs.  So we will see what happens.   Good luck and let me know if you have any questions, I have done a lot of research on this. Topic: RE: I have completely failed my surgery.

Oh my gosh!! Your story is the same as mine it is scary!!  I gained 35-40# during my pregnancy.  Started at 160 and ended up almost 200.  I came home from the hospital with her in Jan weighing 181,  now 10 months later I am weighing 203.  I just had my gallbladder take out 10-9.  My dr scoped me at the same time and everything was fine. He wants me to start Phentermine, but I am still nursing.  I haven't ever left her either and feel guilty about taking her somewhere.  I need to increase my exercise as I was running prior to pregnancy.  I also had hypoglycemia and still do after the pregnancy, the drs thought it would get better.  You can email me privately if you want to get back on track and keep each other in check.  krathjen@netins.net Kourtney

    Topic: Medifast post op

I am 2 years post op and 8 months since I delivered my daughter.  I have #50 to get to my goal.  I just order the diabetic Medifast program, since it has low sugar content in it's product.  Anyway, anyone out there post op who has tried this program.  I am really excited to get it and get going.  I just need a jumpstart to get this weight off, and with the shakes and bar it will be nice when  I don't have the time to make something healthy.  Let me know what you think!! And wish me luck!!

    Topic: RE: nervous about weightgain!

First of all- CONGRADULATIONS!!  I got pregnant 6 months post op and was 8# away from goal.  I gained 35# which my surgeon and OB were happy with.  My only problem is I haven't lost any of the weight and actually have been gaining.  I have a hard time finding time to exercise like I used to and would like to with an infant.  I am blessed with a beautiful, healthy baby girl.  She was small when she was born and they wonder if that was from surgery?  I am nursing but did have a low supply, again they blame the surgery.  But a friend who had her baby 1 day after me, who also had surgery, had a almost 9# baby and wonderful supply of milk!! Let me know if you have any other questions.  My email is krathjen@netins.net Kourtney Proud mommy to Kennady Alexis 1-16-06 5#9oz

    Topic: :help: Not feeling full

I need some advise ASAP!! I had a scope done April 1 because I was vomiting a lot. Well my surgeon did dialate the opening, just a little he said. The problem now--- I don't ever get a full sensation and I am constantly hungry, I am scared to death. Now what do I do?? I can't gain this weight back, I already had a revision in Nov from VBG to RNY due to severe reflux. I regret ever mentioning the fact that I was vomiting. Can they go make the opening smaller now that they dialated it???? Or do I just continue gaining weight cuz I can eat more??? ANY help you can offer is needed!! Kourt

Topic: RE: HAD TUMMY TUCK ON 4/26---HELP!!!!

If you just had it on the 26th you still are experiencing a lot of swelling and will for several months!! There is usually fluid accumulated around the surgery for awhile, if they gave you a binder wear it as much as possible. It will eventually go down and you will be happy with the results. Kourtney
