    Topic: RE: TRICARE Question

this would be a question to ask the military forum..anyways i had to do it a little differently. i had to see my pcm to get an intial refferal, that took about 2 weeks, then the dr told me all the pre op stuff i had to do such as sleep study, egd, ect. all those took about 4 weeks, and then i go back into the dr to get a date, which takes anywhere from hours to 10 days or so. if you having it a military hospital then everything goes way faster.

oh i feel the pain lol. i went 11 months with out a period (not comparable to your 10yrs) but i was so happy and never had to think about tampoons or any of the sort and then bam it came and now it friggen wont leave. 56 days and counting of a nonstop period that the dr's cant stop (i do have pcos though) i asked my dr for a magic pill to make it stop and she laughed at me.

Topic: RE: Questions about Lifting and bust out staples

ok so it was not wls surgery, however i had a csection and it is the same concept, dont lift over 10lbs for 8 weeks. well i was carrying around my son in a carseat and my daughter who was 25lbs so carrying around 50lbs and i ended up getting a hernia. so that ment another surgery and another 8 weeks off. so yea it happens if you dont listen. but most of the time if you follow dr orders you'll be ok

    Topic: RE: Tons of Questions

this would be a good post for the military board. also you can get lap band if thats something you offer if you are using a military facility. other than that yes tric care covers gastic bypass. i started the process oct 4 and just about to put my paperwork in after my sleep study on monday. you can check my profile and see the steps i have had to do. tricare is seriously one of the easiest to deal with.

    Topic: RE: Nausea Remedy?

well there is phenegren, but that is a script by the dr and the downside is that it makes you really sleepy. peppermint. tea. gingerale, sprit. also sunflower seeds. something in the seeds gives an anti nasuea effect. however i do not know if you can have them you could defenitly chew them in your mouth and spit them out, to just get the juices.

Topic: RE: This Won't Interest the Men in the Room...

are you on anything for the pcos, like metformin? i know it is used for blood sugar problems but the dr said it helps regulate too. also are you on birth control? that helps regulate. also have you tried provera? that helps you start your period.. also be careful for what you wish for. lol i have pcos and i didnt have a period for 11 months, then i started getting them irregularly. like one every 3 months. well then it came for good, and friggen wont go away. i had a period for 30 days went on birth control, and it stopped for 2 days then started right back up. now its been here for 51 days..goodness i really miss the days of no periods. my dr made a joke "first you couldnt turn the focet on, now you cant turn it off" hahah to my expense.  it is easier to start a period then it usually is to stop it. i would say if not trying to have a baby, and as long as your paps and labs look ok dont try to start the flow.

Topic: RE: Anyone use the Ortho Evra Patch?

ok since everyone is giving you all postives about the patch i ll add a few however will give you some negative. again only my personal experience (and some friends personal feelings too) pros no weight gain easy, only deal with it one a week when in the mood dont have to stop to get somthing (condom) hides under clothes, and if seen most think its a nictonie patch or big bandaid lol you can alter when you want your period to come (kinda like the pill) just leave it on a few more days then your suppose to. cons if you dont put it on a clean dry place it can peel or slip off once the sticky stuff is on your skin it can be hard to get it off they dont come with a convient extra patch, that way if one does fall off you can put a new one back on the patch can come off, or slide around even when following every instruction to the tee oh yea PREGNANCY!  seriuosly every woman that have been on the patch wound up pregnant. well one didnt so the chances would be like 1/5 didnt get preg while usuing this  again this is just my imput. i am under 35 and a nonsmoker. have you looked into norplant.

Topic: RE: No honest people read this

also have you had labs drawn. do you have high cholestrol or high triglysieride (sp?) you would be very surprise what labs can show, what about insilin resistant, or pcos. asthma? any skin rashes? also write a letter showing any and all medication that you are using, plus why the weight limits you, such as short of breath, or bad knees. like everyone else said a bmi of 70 really shouldnt require any co-morbidties however insulin resistant, pcos, asthma, bad back (from the spinal from baby), and high triglyserides where my co-morbidities along with a bmi of 42, and i got approved. good luck.

    Topic: RE: Lab Test Questions

cpr or c- reactive protien was explained to me as it is a very generalized test it just shows that you have inflamation, but the test cannot  pin point exactly where it's at. a very common thing is to have a high cpr when you have arthritis, or muscel injury. so does your back hurt, your knees, do you have arthritis? i wouldn't excpect this a reason to not qualify you for surgery,  however i really dont know about the ferritin level. the glucose level however could but a little damper on things, as you are well aware that is waaaaaay to high. they might require you to be on some type of medicine to regulate your sugars, becuause anasthesia can actually make your blood sugar raise, so if your fasting level is at 216 couldnt imagine how high your levels could go..but it good be dangerous.

    Topic: RE: A Little Discouraged

i also have tricare and i was told thats its a bmi of under 40 with comorbidity (which is about 100lbs overweight) or 200 percent over ideal weight with no comorbidity. like everyone said you may be surprised that you may in fact have one. also just tell your doctor that you want to have gastric bypass, and he will do the rest..well put the refferal in. if you live near a mtf that offers gastric bypass then that is where you will be sent. it really is a lot easier, because you dont have to worry about any out of pocket expenses. you can check my profile out, to see what i have done thus far on my journey if ya want. good luck..oh yea i am still in the pre-op phase

Topic: RE: 5th day post op- can I swallow Tylenol PM Geltabs?

although i dont know if you can swallow tylenole pms, i just wanted to tell you to go to your regular dr, they can give you an anxiety pill for short time use or a long term one like zoloft. also ambien and or lunesta are both sleep aids and are really small, i wouldnt imagine a problem swallowing those.

i havent had the ng tube, but the cathador i have had. i didnt think it really hurt comming out, however an hour after surgery it was hurting stinging really bad so i told them to take it out, they told me that they would take it out but that means i would have to go to the bathroom on my own, i agreed, so literly an hour after surgery i was walking to the bathroom, i must say though it wasnt for wls it was for a c section.

Topic: RE: Update: Assault on daughter

wow sorry to hear about your daughter, i hope you are able get the states attention and thank god for the witnesses. you know many girls have conflicts with their moms f\growing up especially the middle teenage years. where they think they know what is best and want to act like an adult and so forth. i too HATED my mom, we couldnt even be in the same room, but i hated her for not letting me go out or do anything when i wanted, very protective. but then i moved out..got married, our relastionship started to get better. then once i became pregnant the first time we became really close. i would say my mom is one of my bestfriends. your daughter will learn to respect you, appricate what you have done for her, however this might take some time and she will learn from bad decsions. just continue looking out for her best intrest, wheather she thinks so or not. she will come back to you in her own time. i will keep your family in my prayers.

Topic: RE: HMMM...CARE TO ANSWER MY QUESTION...

you know i talked to my dr about this, when i was on the o.r table and he said when they perfome a c section, they usually do a spinal, or epidural. however there is the rare cases that they have to put you under, anyways he said the anasthesia doesnt make you tired specifically however, after woman are in labor they are tired so when you get the pain meds you can relax and usually fall asleep. now both times i had a csection i fell asleep, only to open my eyes to see the baby for a minuet or two. the dr told me some people fall asleep just becasue thats how you react to the med. also my nose gets really really itchy, again just a reaction that some people get.

Topic: RE: Ok next BC question.. who is on the patch?

i dont really recommend the patch. i got pregnant on it. also i have talked with several people and many have gotten pregnant on the patch. ii know that technically anyone can get pregnant on any type of birth control, but seriously the "i got pregnant on the patch" is really popular among many of the users. not to mention that i have herd talk that they are going to take it off the market due to it cauing blood clots, and death. also i dont know how old you are but not recommended for over the age of 35. i have herd decents things about the ring, the pill, iud. i have herd complaints about the shot due to weight gain. my dr even told me this.

Topic: RE: My blood sugar was 21!

my first wuestion is did you retest, my dr have told me, that if i get a "too low" or "too high" number to retest. so if you did retest and it was still that low then you did the right thing, having your husband give you some food. i also understand on your not knowing what you wouldve done if he wasnt there, becuase your thinking is all screwed up when your sugar goes too low. but yea buy some of the sugar pill to throw in your purse, or even some peanuts, or candy (not sugar free). also you need be strict on taking your sugars when your suppose to and then see the dr with your journal.
