yes, for months all I could tolerate for breakfast was Syntrax Nectar. mixes easily with water using only a spoon, lots of protein, goes down very easy.

Topic: RE: Dr Ann videos - non WLS specific
this is an Xpost from Clean Eating.

Dr. Ann did not impress me when I looked at her website. then I saw her speak and I really liked her. the info was pretty basic - white carbs are BAD - stuff everybody ought to know already - but I spoke briefly with her following her talk and I asked about eating white pototaos after making sure they were lower on the glycemic index.  (note: I am in maintenance)

while the basics in her talk included avoiding white potatoes, she does eat them and understands it can be done in a healthy way. so I was hooked - common sense backed by science, is what I was seeing.

anyway, nothing WLS specific (well, maybe the protein thing) but see what you think.   lots of video clips here, I have linked to the category on weight loss and appetite control.

I have that book - it's OK but I prefer some of her older ones like Feeding the Hungry Heart. I would love to hear more about the retreat!  in fact, any thing you want to tell me I'd be interested to hear. I don't suppose you wrote about it in your blog or something?

where was it, how long, how many people were there,  did you find it helped long term?

    IMHO Maintenance = Real Life

if you are going to succeed at keeping the pounds off, you have to work on all of your life. anything that helps you deal with stress is a good idea in every way.

     very good article
long term, stress reduction is key to sustaining weight loss, IMO

mindfulness may get at the underlying causes of overeating—like craving, stress, and emotional eating—which make it so hard to defeat.

people who use mindfulness increase the size and function of their pre-frontal cortex, the area of the brain connected to decision making and long-range planning.

I TOTALLY felt the fullnes, even on think liquids. even more so on full liquids. I felt restriction for the first day post op - in fact, I remember wanting more of the excellent broth the hosital served (homemade, you get it after you pass your leak test) but one sip and FULL.

next day, two sips and FULL.

because of this and despite working at it hard all day long, it took me a week to get up to 64 of fluid in.

why do people tell you you look terrible? well, bad manners for one, but what the heck.? are they just used to your fat self or are you depressed and it shows or what the heck is going on?

regardless of how many pounds you've lost: why do you feel so bad? have you had labs done? are you exercising? do you sleep well at night? are you depressed?

you should not feel this bad no matter what - find out what the problem is and start taking care of yourself.

nobody is a failure, I don't care what size they are.

how much fluid are you getting in? it probably isn't enough and if you are losing it - it's very hard to rehydrate at some point and we have no way of knowing when you reach that point. consider getting IV fluid in, it will make you feel so much better and  might end the vomiting.

fluids: experiment with different temperatures to see what you tolerate best: warm, tepid, cool, ice cold.

good luck! and take dehydration seriously!
