Topic: RE: 2 ounces per meal are it !

From what I've read that is perfectly normal and like Ms. Batt said as long as you are taking your vitamins veggies and fruits aren't really neccesary. Or you could eat a bit less protein and then have room for a few none starchy veggies. When you are farther out you will be able to eat a very little bit more but for where you are right now that sounds perfectly normal. Go to the sleeve forum and read the what are you eating today posts for more ideas on how to eat.

Topic: RE: What a long road I have ahead

Please don't even think about the band it is so different from what we were told back in 2006! I had mine in 2007 and I regret it everyday. It is only good for 5-10 yrs max (if it lasts that long) and we are seeing more and more long term issues like decreased motility that can never be resolved. People are just stuck with it. It is also very ineffective if you have alot of weight to lose. The sleeve is a far better choice all the way around. I'm just biding my time until I can revise to sleeve.  Good luck but do get a good effective surgery!

Topic: RE: Pre-op Diet - Modifications

I agree with Ms Batt as usual! If I could save just one person from getting the band I would, I wouldn't wi**** on satan himself. I was eating 1000 calories a day when I got the band and I didn't lose any more with the band than I did before it. If you caouldn't afford WW I hope you will be able to afford all the fills and unfills needed with the band. If your insurance changes its coverage for any reason you will get to pay for those fills and most aren't cheap. Not to mention the band is the least effective of all the weight loss surgeries, just some things to think about.

I say go ahead and call Mon. let them know about the sprain and they can schedule accordingly. It probably won't put it off a lot.

Topic: RE: Numbness in my leg

I had that and burning in my feet, it was diagnosed as neuropathy and I take neurontin for it. The numbness didn't bother me but the burning in my feet sure did, hence the meds but I noticed the numbness went away with the meds too. You might want to see a neurologist to get a diagnosis and whether or not you want any meds for it or if that is even what it is.

    Topic: RE: Help!

Tell your doc perhaps he can Rx different antidepressants that don't cause so much gain. Also be very honest with yourself, are you using this as an excuse to eat bad foods I'm not saying you are but I know others have. You also may have to just go cold turkey and detox from the carbs, it's hard but the only way. You've worked too hard to let it all go just for some sweets!

Topic: RE: Is the Exelon Patch ok to use?

I'm no doc (amd don't play one on tv mail) but I'd say since it is absorbed thru the skin it should be ok. I use a fentanyl patch and it works great, altho I have a band. The best person to ask would be your surgeon or the pharmacist, either should be able to give you a good answer

Topic: RE: Why can't I pull it together?!?

I agree with getting therapy, so much of this journey is a head game and so many bad habits have been developed over a lifetime of bad eating. It is easy to say I need to do X,Y and Z but actually do it something all together different. There is no shame in seeking professional help, I would venture to guess at least 80% of WLS patients very much need it to make the lifestyle changes needed. Good luck to you!

    Topic: RE: Yummmmm

I'm not one to give praise to products but dang I just tried Click protein powder yesterday (got some samples) and it is the bombdiggity! I never did find one I liked after my surgery but this stuff is awesome, no funky after taste, mixes smooth. I could drink it all day long. If you like coffee flavor you'll love this stuff. I had mine cold but I bet the warm is just as good. I get no kick back from this it's just that I had so much trouble finding anything decent that I had to put this out there!

    Topic: RE: Weight loss programs?

Why would you ask this on a weight loss surgery website unless you are trying to drum up business for this guy. Read the reviews yourself, the only good ones are by this guy, the others say keep your money!

I dealt with them once and that was one time too many! I switched vitamins rather than continue to try to deal with them.

If you are unable to let go of the guilt maybe try some counceling to learn other coping skills. Addiction usually takes some type of professional help. Good luck!

Marta I love all your hairpieces! I have a small collection myself, I like to change up the look. Had 3 ladies at the docs office yesterday just go on and on about how great my hair looked and all it was is my hair pulled back in a pony tail and a $30 clip on curly hair piece! They were astounded that it was a hair piece.

Heidi I adore your dogs I had an awesome golden for too short a time (she had cancer all thru her and her spleen ruptured, she never even acted sick!). They are the most loyal snuggly dogs ever!

Topic: RE: Revision from vertical sleeve to added imbrication (plication)

I told her the same thing and I've never heard of that surgeon so he can't be too famous or in the 6 yrs I've been here I would have heard of him or seen his name. It scares me to see these people being taken advantage of by surgeons looking to make a buck. Sounds like he does it on purpose so he CAN revise them later.

Topic: RE: Help with Aetna approval process

I had BCBS and my nurse sent a list of my weights to them, they denied it as not clinical records. They wanted and she had to send actual copies of the doctors notes, so that sounds like what they want from you. I too find it extremely odd that your doctor or his nurse has never weighed you, that is pretty much part of every visit along with BP, pulse and temp. If you can't get those actual copies you may have a problem. Good luck to you!

Topic: RE: Christie Decision on Lap Band Versus Other Methods

Please save yourself the misery and look at something else, the band is the least effective weight loss surgery and I truly wouldn't wi**** on my worst enemy. I personally know of 4 friends who had bands and have now either revised to another surgery or are looking at having to do so soon. They all loved their bands and did well with them for the first few years. However it seems once the band has been in for several years that's when the problems start altho I know of a few people who had to have them out within weeks of implant because their bodies just fought the invading band. Mine never did work, I followed all the rules and saw my doc for fills and unfills when needed but only lost 20 lbs and that was the first year. I'm now out 5+ yrs, my band is empty because it kept tightening on it's own with no fills. I believe it is scar tissue building up under the band but my insurance doesn't cover bariatrics so I just have to sit here and wait and hope my insurance situation changes. So please read the revision forum and the regrets forum there are hundreds if not thousands of us who have had either no success or damage ranging from discomfort to severe esophageal damage to the point they can't swallow normally anymore. Please don't fall for the same garbage we did.

Topic: RE: Apathy - failure - reaching GOAL. Why do you share your numbers?

How else is a person going to know where they are and where they are going? It's like trying to get somewhere without a map or GPS, that's not obsessing that's using smart tools. You can't know where you are going if you don't know where you've been. Sounds to me like someone doesn't want to have to be accountable for their actions. The only way I've ever had any success is by journaling my food and keeping track usually daily (so I can catch it before too out of control) of my weight. Losing weight takes a lot of work and awareness and you  can't be aware if you aren't keeping track! Every ounce lost is reason to shout to the world!!!!
