Hi Sam!
Might I suggest that you, and indeed all newbies, read the stickie at the top of the forums on how to get the most out of your experience here.

Most of the men I know on this site wouldn't care less, but it's nice of you to think about them!!!
My pet peeve is the ones where they are specifically excluded - just to talk about menstruation or sex or fashion. The men can give the same advice that we can give ... I don't have periods any more, but I'm happy to give advice about them. The sex and fashion thing I've got down but then so have the men!!!
Having said all that they do have the Men's Locker Room where women are NOT welcome so don't worry about them being left out or estrogenized!
We have a group (R&R 3.0) where we welcome *****es of both sexes

I smoked a week after surgery with no problems
Cannot see the point of having WLS if you are still smoking ... Nothing shortens or ruins your health like a cigarette habit - being fat was the least of your worries!

As the mother of a young man (11) with severe autism, I have learned what are his triggers and what are not. So why o why, when the only thing I asked the bus staff to do (not get him to school too early) did they do just that this morning?
Two hours, yes, two hours after he left home, I get a call to say he has head butted and broken a bus window. Thankfully he is (apparently) unhurt, although he is non verbal so who the heck knows?
Apparently, now they agree with me, that trying to get him to stay on the bus for 10 minutes outside of school is NOT going to work and will be picking him up 10 minutes later every morning so we don't get a repeat of this morning's "fun"

Uninformed opinion - not based in fact!
There are a lot of people on here who have had surgery outside of the US with no complications and without putting their lives at risk (eyeroll). Of course YOU would not be the right person to do so because clearly you have done no research or had any education on the matter, but there is a Mexico forum on here and lots of people who would be more than happy to provide you with facts on having surgery, safely, outside of the US if you would care to learn before commenting!

Surgery? Surgery date? Hard to give advice when we don't have any information!

I think we may have some pharmacists on here, but if not, then go visit one locally and ask them the question. They will be able to tell you where different drugs are absorbed and whether your RNY will interfere or not!!!

Thank you for posting this. You are the perfect example of why we need to get bloods taken when we feel unwell. I can't imagine what your ferritin level is if your Hb is 3.1
We vets are always telling people to get their lab results in writing and check for trends - if your blood levels are falling, it needs to be investigated by a specialist (haemotologist) and treated. No one should be left with your symptoms!
I hope you are able to get this sorted ASAP!

You are missing history, that's all ...
You have been here six months whereas the people who have questioned Wendy's motivation for posting this question have been here for years

It will have no effect on your ability to have children. You should give yourself at least a year before planning to get pregnant so you get the maximum opportunity to lose your excess weight. Ensure you take all the required vitamins, exercise for health etc and you should be absolutely fine!

She's 23 - she gets to deal with the consequences of her stupid actions ... I would be pissed off at the embassy EXPECTING you to come up with the money - if she were under 18, maybe ... at 23? Hell no, they have no right to pressure you or other members of your family.

Let me give you some friendly advice from someone who is 10 years out of surgery and has been on these forums for a loooooong time.
When reading the replies on OH, consider the poster. Check their posting history - it will help you sort the wheat from the chaff - there are some seriously strange people on here.
You sound like a people pleaser - I spent 30 something years doing that, until I had an epiphany one day and decided that I was going to live my life for ME, and my friends and family could come along for the journey or STFU! You teach people how to treat you - do what's good for you, thank them for their concern and then don't listen any more ...

It's good you have an enlightened OB - I absolutely would NOT do it, as I believe it would put me and my baby in distress ...

I never did any sort of diet before my surgery. We used to say that surgeons only put people on prolonged liquid diets because they hated fat people - there is very little research to show that two weeks of liquids does anything substantial for the liver ...
Be grateful you don't have to do anything like this - many of us don't!

One of the reasons you will NOT find a pre WLS picture of me on here or online ANYWHERE ... Way too easy for them to be used for ridicule!
I am very active in the autism community and it seems like someone sets up a troll site weekly to ridicule special needs kids etc - best to report them to FB or whoever and NOT give them the pleasure of your ire - that's exactly what they seek!

It's not like an exam you have to get an A or B to pass ... it's a multiple choice paper to determine your suitability for the surgery - it's not unusual at all - I'll bet most of us took it!

Don't overthink it - the vast majority of us probably did it and I'm always surprised by some of the people who must have passed it! Nothing to worry about!

I have been through a lot of exercise "cycles" during the last 10 years but I have always made it a priority - not for weightloss or even weight maintenance, but for my health. If I stay active, I feel better and look better!
As I get older, I think it's even more important to keep active - my parents just kind of gave up when they retired and I have no intention of doing so.

Diabetes is never cured by weight loss surgery (although the DS seems to have a fantastic rate of remission). Some people are able to come off their meds straight away (usually those who were short term diabetic and on minimal drugs), some never come off them and some of us have to go back on them further on our journey.
My recommendation would be that you continue to monitor your blood sugars, eat a good low carb diet and see how it goes ...
