Although I typed it correctly in my answer to the post to which I believe you refer, I didn't want to point out the error because I felt it would make me look like the spelling and grammar police and we all know how much everyone hates that sort of know-it-all

Boundaries.  Anyone who has an ex KNOWS how big this break in trust really is ...

Your mum and sisters need to know how big this betrayal is and that it will NEVER happen again!   You teach people how to treat you and if you don't make this clear, it most certainly will happen again.

I was only morbidly obese after a difficult pregnancy - I had WLS 11 months later and so the pictures from that time make me both happy (for the birth of my lovely baby) and sad for who I was and how I felt for those months.

I never share those before pictures because I don't feel like they were me ...

It depends on your doctor's plan - mine never restricted caffeine or carbonation (although I still have a problem with real fizzy - even at almost 10 years out)!

You should discuss your needs with your program and see if there is any middle ground!

It's a cup of chicken soup, not a chinese buffet or a 3 course steak dinner ...  I wouldn't stress it, personally!

I didn't have to do any pre-op diet (just nil by mouth after midnight) - as many of us don't.   We used to joke on here that pre-op diets were ordered by surgeons who hated fat people, but now they've become more common, they are no longer the joke!

A cup of chicken soup 6 days before your surgery is not going to ruin anything and I don't see any reason to "confess" to anyone!

Even if you are one of the 30 per cent who dump, it's very easily controlled by diet - same with RH and all the other "horrors" you hear about RNY.  I will have survived my RNY for 10 years in a couple of weeks.

Ultimately it's your choice.

If you don't trust your surgeon and his recommendations, perhaps a second opinion might be in order?

I feel really uncomfortable and unappreciated right now too ...     (See what I did then?)

Saying it was not a job made it sound like it's not worthy and why should we bother ...  I'm deeply offended and uncomfortable about that statement n(See what I did then?)

Statistically ...   that word was meant to de-personalise the statement that you would not come back after 6-12 months because most don't!  You may well be the exception and if you are, we can have a good laugh about this in a few years and YOU start a thread asking for the same things Hislady did!  At this point, you think you would never do anything as aggressive as Hislady (hard not to laugh as I type that - if you "knew" her, you would know why)

You are making me feel uncomfortable with your constant attacks against me.  (See what I did then?)

Thanks for your opinion - they all count!

Maybe ..maybe im over sensitive .....but listen ....there are gonna be newbies joining this site every single day ! Are you gonna keep posting up that you are irked at how people are not putting enough detail in their posts ? Because you can guarantee that this will happen always !!Or ....like MANY MANY others ...are you gonna just patiently reply again and again because you realise this is an open forum where people post new every day and we are all learning how to use it . I know which I appreciate more . And thats not to say I dont value everyones opinion , I do . But ...it seems that you dont get mine . Maybe aggressive was the wrong word to use , I apologise for that . But it was condescending , in my opinion .

Yes, you are oversensitive ...

I look forward to knowing you when you are 10 years out from your surgery and are still here answering questions!   (from a statistical standpoint, you won't be here six to twelve months after your surgery)  For every one of us still on here, there are many MANY thousands who have disappeared after they got what they want.   The vast majority of people do NOT payback!   Telling vets NOT to come here and answer questions is the most foolhardy statement of this whole thread!

This started as a post to ask people to give a little more information if they want advice and has turned into the (Easily) Pissed Off Jax Show - good job!

What Kathkeb said about work.

How old are your children?  Unless they are toddlers, it's time for them to step up and help out - you'll probably only need help for a week or so (most of us recover very quickly!)   If they are toddlers, then keep them in childcare as you would if you were at work

You choose whether you tell neighbours - you have enough time to cook meals ahead of time for your family and your kids can get rides from their friends for a week!!!!   I was driving the second day after surgery and caring for an 11 month old baby on my own - needs must - you can do this without becoming a bariatric patient!!!

Just do it!   If you need help, go see your PCP - there are tons of ways to stop ...   If you want this surgery, smoking is not an option - why have your insides re-arranged only to continue to do the deadliest thing you could do?   My sister, who was 50 this year, is in her second bout of lung cancer from smoking.  My 60 year old cousin is terminal and has 3-6 months WITH chemo.   This is not a game!  Stay fat, and it will probably STILL be the cigs that kill you!

Your PCP should be able to help you or refer you to the specialists.   My first port of call would be a full vitamin/mineral blood work up so you can see if you do indeed have any deficiencies and get those addressed.

The other symptoms may or may not be related.   A bariatric surgeon is a cutter and not usually an expert in any of these things, so it's no problem not to have the insurance to see one.   It is more likely you will need an endocrinologist or haematologist so save your money to see the people who would really be able to help you if necessary!

I am 10 years out at the end of this month (yikes) and have had iron deficency issues (addressed by infusions a couple of times) - any other problems I have had have not been connected with the RNY but more with getting older (which sucks!)

Had no narcotics after the day of surgery but I do have a high pain tolerance.   Was able to drive the day after discharge - you know you can't drive until you have been off the pain meds for 24 hours!

The left side pain is where all the work is done and muscles are cut, so the pain may linger for a couple of weeks while it's healing.

You obviously have insight into yourself (fixer) and know that this is not the job of a friend or a support group leader.   Now, while I would never join your group , I think for those with faith, it will be a great place for WLS fellowship!!!

Don't disappear from here - I have been here 10 years and have definitely come to accept that while we are a dysfunctional family at times, we can still get and give support and I honestly believe that is one of the biggest aspects in long term weight loss success!   Some of us are blunt, some of us are downright rude, but the vast majority of people here are very caring and want to give you an honest opinion and that's what's important!

What was your level?  If you are feeling tired, what were your ferritin levels last time?

None of us should accept whatever health care professionals tell us blindly!  You are your own best advocate and no one has more invested in your health than you.

Personally, I wouldn't have stopped taking B12 completely but maybe reduced it to once or twice per week?   How do you know you don't have intrinsic factor - not everyone who has RNY completely lacks intrinsic factor - which is why we all need different amounts of B12 to stay healthy!

I wouldn't listen to anyone who tells you we ALL need to take X amount of XYZ ...   We all need to track our labs and respond to trends!

Topic: RE: High liver enzymes, "cirrhotic appearing liver"

Elevated liver enzymes are very common during the rapid weight loss after surgery - it usually rights itself after about a year.   (happened to me too)

Can't comment on the other stuff, but the liver is a very good organ for regeneration of cells, and so a year of good living should help enormously!
