I loved the Sopranos. He was a great actor. I was saddened by his death.

Topic: RE: Mayo Clinic and Emory in Atlanta No Longer Banding!

That's right. As of the last month or 2 these have terminated their banding program. They will still fill/unfill, but they will no longer place a lapband!

So I was just wondering..........has this trend continued in your areas???

The more evasive one is concerning this, the more ppl will talk about it and try to figure out what it is and why you wouldn't disclose it. Then when you drop weight quickly after surgery they will know anyway.

I think it really depends on the status of your marriage now. WLS seems to make a good marriage better and a bad marriage worse.

I would think that Barrett's would be contraindicated. Realize and Lap-Bands can actually cause Barrett's, so there is the potential there of a band actually making your condition worse. Try looking into VSG, DS, or RNY. :-)

Try.  If it is denied, appeal! Failed bands are extremely common. :-(
Topic: RE: Things you WISH they would have told you BEFORE surgery

Wish I had been informed that about 20% of bandsters NEVER reach restriction, or that for most bandsters, restriction/green zone/sweet spot is NOTHING like it is advertised to be! Kind of an IMPORTANT detail to leave out!

I also with I had been informed about the limited life of the Lap-Band instead of being told it was a LIFETIME product. Lifetime? 3-6 years?! Lol.

Really?  In May, their rep told me they were going to discontinue strawberry due to the low demand.

At this point, I have a bucketload of Isopure that should take me through to when I am eating normally (semi-normally), though.

You and Jill are both right. The did stop manufacturing it due to low sales of that flavor, but you can purchase from their remaining stock online.

I do indeed work for Dr. Kuri and have never hidden that fact. If you put in the search box you will see I don't often post. If you put Dr. Kuri into the search box you will find that he has a superb reputation here on the board that goes back a very long way. I have worked for him since 2007 when he moved over to the beautiful and state of the art Hospital Angeles. We have worked very hard over these past 6 years to put together a program that offers very good information and support both pre and post banding. I recommended in my original post that the person do very careful research on the Lap-BandŽ. While it it not the perfect solution for everyone it does remain the safest bariatric surgery and I will stand by that statement. This will be my last post on this subject.

So the US government investigating Allergan for false claims of their safety doesn't concern you???

I have read the Lap-Band literature as well and it states an 88% COMPLICATION RATE!

I ws banded in May 2005. I weigh 16 lbs less than I did on surgery day. With many unfills and fills, I consider myself a fat bulemic. I cannot wait to get this thing out of me. I did do my research....thinking back I think it was my fear of being cut on my insides. I am now seeking to be revised to the DS. My best friend was banded also. She was heavier than me and did lose the weight...well, never reached her goal but she did pretty well....thing is....6 years later she states the wt is creeping back up. Please do your research. I hate my band and this long journey so far. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I choke on mosty everything.......and whatever day my moody band is in....I may get more that 5 bites in on a good day.....my metabolism must be all screwy...its to the point of what will slide past the band...not what is good for me. I am hungry all the time. It just plain sucks. Hope this helps. Good luck to you.

    Good luck with your revision!!!

I have the Lap-Band and I would not wi**** on my worst enemy! There are tons of complications associated with bands! I strongly suggest you look into DS, VSG or RNY. Those are much more effective WLS's, and much safer long term!

    Good luck!
