What are you referring to by "a gastric"?

Bands just don't work long term for MOST bandsters. Don't waste your money!

It's about time the government is looking into that POS band! Realize bands don't seem to have any better results than Lap-Band. Hopefully they will be next!

    Oh hell no!!!!!

I got the CRAP-BAND. I should have gotten VSG, RNY, or DS. You know, a WLS that actually WORKS! Lol.

Well between DS and Gastric Bypass the DS has the best stats. Glad to hear you've ruled out the band. I wouldn't miss that on my worst enemy.

Personally I would do both! Make sure your  Drs. missing paperwork is accompanied by your appeal letter.

    Good luck!

The band is just a short term fix............that is *IF* it even fixes things short term. DS is the way to go if you need to revise from RNY.

OMG if we still had him he would be yours straight up LOL.... the first thing I am going to do when I get there and this is months away yet .. I am going to definitely get a teacup Yorkie to finally replace the one I had ... I have been putting it off for ages since I either can't find the one that I connect with or something comes up and I don't have the time or it is not the right time ... I am so looking forward to doing this when I get there ... I can get a gorgeous yorkie (teacup size please) for half the price of the one I had before or so I am told...

Yorkies are adorable! I thought about getting one instead of a Pom last yr. I think Yorkies are more high maintanence though. Love my babies new babies!

    Topic: RE: BLISS Insurance

My understanding is that it is an option that bariatric Drs. with a low rate of complications can get. I don't know about the price, but you pay it prior to surgery if you Dr. is able to offer this and if there are any complications they are covered. I'm not sure what the time frame is on that.

    Good luck!

With your BMI I have to concur with MsBatt about the DS.

As far as follow up care. Most arrainge for that with a local bariatric Dr. before they leave. If you go on your state forum, you can ask the others if they know of a Dr. that will do follow up care.

    Topic: RE: Dr. Mario Almanza

Lorna first of all..........it's not even a hospital. It is a clinic in a strip mall with an adult lingerie/toy store in it. I have done a lot of research on the MX. forum since I would like to revise and don't have insurance. Among some of the things I've heard of at that locations are:

    ants in the OR
    sterile technique not properly utilized
the cook removing patient drains and dressing bandages
This is also done by the "Dr." that was using someone elses license and the "nurse" that was a high school student
many instances of pateints leaving there with leaks and infections.

Do your research on the MX forum and ask on the VSG forum. You will find tons of info on that "hospital"!

    Topic: RE: doing my research

I have a failed band and need a revision. I would like to revise to VSG. I have no insurance so I have been researching WLS in Mexico. You can get it done there at a good price, however do NOT go with the lowest price! There are some that advertise as a hospital, but actually just a clinic in a strip mall.

    Good luck!

I have the band. Had I known then what I know now I NEVER would have gotten the band. I would not wish the band on my worst enemy.

Do VSG, DS, RNY..........anything BUT the band!

It's just a temporary fix. Most that I know with BOB lose well. However in just a few years the band complications start. You would be much better off revising to DS!

Topic: RE: Need high protein meal ideas!!

Since you don't like to cook go to the grocery store and have them steam some shrimp for you. You can eat it then, or take it home and refrigerate and have later. Also if you have a Kroger there, they have already prepared quiche. Just skip the crust.

Keep protein bars in the pantry: Power Crunch, Zone Perfect, Oh Yeah!, Premier.

Go to buffets and get it to go by the pound. Get fish, chicken, seafood.

Keep Greek yogurt in the refrig, for breakfast you can make instant oatmeal and add protein powder to it.
