    Any VSG Regrets????

    Hi guys,
I'm looking into VSG surgery and I'm 31 yrs old.  I'm really intested in how folks are doing long term.  I know it's only been around as a stand-alone surgery for about 3-5 years.  Any regrets or complications?
    Thanks!
You should probably post this on the VSG board because this forum is very slow you won't get many answers over here. The VSG folks seem real nice and helpful so I'm sure they would give you their opinions.
no regrets. i agree it would be good to post this on VSG forum...or even search that forum for 'regrets' to see previous discussions on the topic.
    good luck on your journey.

My only regret is that I didn't have this done 5 years ago!

84 pounds down after 10 months, off insulin, no more sleep apnoea, down 15 tablets a day - now on 3.  Life is good
I am 31 also.   I had a conversion from a lap band to VSG in 2009 and had MAJOR complications.  In the end I had to have an RNY because the complications from the VSG were so severe.  I had a really bad leak that took 9 months to heal and then the stomach nearly sealed itself shut with a really bad, really huge stricture that made it impossible to eat solid food.  I had to have my intestines re-routed to bypass the stricture.  I spent over a year in and out of hospitals.  Anyway, for some people it's been a very succesful surgery.  For me, not so much.  I wish I would not have had it done.  I am STILL having a lot of complications because of the surgery and I'm nearly two years out (read my blog and you'll see what I mean more specifically).
I have a very small sleeve, less then 10% of my stomach and no reservoir. Its more of a "green bean" than a banana. I have major issues with GERD, and reflux ( regurge). My regurge is so bad that I am currently going through my fifth aspiration pneumonia.

That being said. . .I am just over 18 months post-op and at goal(down 178+ pounds), my type II diabetes was resolved within a month of surgery, my severe sleep apnea is resolved. . .

Long story short, the issues I have been left with pale significantly in the light of the co-morbities that have been resolved. I would select these over this anytime.

In other words. . .NO REGRETS here!!

How do you feel now?  Do still feel the same?  vsg 12/3/12 my wife 12/4/12 she regret the vsg and iam worry i feel the same.

What is your experience and why are you and your wife regretting it? I'm getting sleeved on 4/25/13 and am considered a lightweight because I'm 214.8 lbs and am 5'3". For me I feel that VSG would be a great tool to get me down to 130 lbs.

Thanks to all who shared their regrets.  It's important to go into this with eyes wide open.

Only regret is not doing the surgery sooner.
Also off of medications now.  Just take my vitamins and supplements as faithfully as possible.
