Hi Shellbear.  Honestly, you are not far enough out yet to be thinking reversal.  You are going to feel like crap a minimum of three months.  After that, you are going to start feeling fantastic!  Hang in there girl it is all going to be alright.

    Hugs,

    Topic: RE: Alcohol??
    Hi Grace,

I too have been having some issues with Alcohol.  I have chosen to talk it out with a counselor and my Dr.  They have been helpful in making me determine and see my "triggers" to drinking.  Maybe you could talk to your Dr and see if there is someone you could talk with about the addiction transfer.

    Good luck,

Hi Darla, I am over three years post op now, and I wouldn't change a thing. I am healthier, I know I will be there for my children and I make good choices now. I tried everything before taking this drastic step and I could not be happier with the results. Don't get me wrong. The first three months post op there was a lot of crying and what was I thinking, but I worked through it (with the help of a counselor) and now I am very happy. I lost 150 lbs and I am now pregnant with my second child. This pregnancy has been much healthier and in some ways better. No gestational diabetes, no swelling, no high blood pressure. I have gained 12 lbs and I am now at 31 weeks. I don't know much about the lap band, but I decided the RNY was the best route for me. Good luck to you! Heather 320-172 (184 - 31 weeks pregnant)

Jessica, who is your DR? Malnutrition will lead to a shorter life span? You have to take care of yourself and your DR should help you do that. I am 2 1/2 years post op and I have had no malnutrition problems. I eat protein first then if still hungry veggies then carbs. I take my vitamins and get my blood tested. I have had no malnutrition problems at all. I think you should talk to another DR about this. A BMI of 57 is horrible. Mine was only 45 and they did some tests on me and I had co-morbidities I was not even aware of, ie: I had elevated heart and liver enzymes that could lead me to a heart attack or liver failure, I was at very high risk from diabetes and the GERD I had led to a hiatal hernia that had me in the hospital thinking I was dying! Maybe this surgery isn't the option for you, but there are others that you could look into. Malnutrition is the least of your worries at this point. Your body is unhealthy at BMI 57! Good luck to you. Heather

Lyndsay, we all go through it hon! That is why there is the support groups and forums. I also "mourned" food loss. I have also had a hard time learning how to cope with other aspects of my life when I cannot turn to food as a mechanism. However, the 150 lbs I have lost have more than made up for that. Maybe your hubby could be a little more supportive though and not be eating your favorite things while you are trying to adjust. My hubby was very supportive and would try and avoid all the "junk" things I loved and couldn't have, while I was around. After the first 4 months or so, it does get much easier. You will be able to eat "regular" food and will begin to feel much more normal. I even began to treat myself to Taco Bell tacos after a year. I can only eat one instead of five, but hey at least it is a taco. You will be able to eat those "treats" again, but you won't be able to eat them in the same quantities as before and that is the reason we were fat to begin with right? Overeating and eating the wrong things? Hang in there, you are gonna make it and be okay. Good luck to you and happy holidays! Heather

Hi Kathy, Thanks so much for your response. My lowest weight was 172 and I have gained about 4 lbs in the past month. Not too sure why. I am still below my ultimate goal which was 180, so I don't know why I am so worried. Thanks for the advice! Heather

Kathy, have you been able to keep all your weight off? I am about 2 1/2 years postop and I have noticed I have been able to start eating more and more. I guess it might be in my head, but I was just curious. Heather
    Topic: RE: GUESS NO REGRETS............
Hey guys! I too am two years out and have had zero problems and zero regrets. I am now able to eat almost anything I want, but I can only have a little at a time and usually just the little bit is enough to satisfy the craving. I went from a 22/24 to a 10/12. I lost about 150 lbs. I read some of the stories and I feel for those who have had problems. I remember waiting for surgery and then the pain afterward only to be rewarded with the loss. I cannot imagine what it is like to have regrets. In other news, I just found out I am pregnant. Yeah! Hopefully this will be a healthier pregnancy for me and I will be able to take off the weight after the baby comes.
