I am not sure about North Carolina, but here in Illinois most of the Medicaid providers have a service called case management.  A case manager is a professional who can help you coordinate your medical care.  If you call your provider you can request it.  If you feel overwhelmed it might be a good idea.  They can also make sure you get a surgeon.

If you call your provider you can also get a list of surgeons who will take your case.  You will need a referral to one from your primary care doctor first.  Medicaid also requires you have surgery at a bariatric center of excellence.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Not sure how you feel about traveling to Spartanburg, but my surgeon accepts Medicaid, Dr. Paul Ross. He's one of the best around here. Thats why I chose him. I live 30 mins from him though. Hope you find someone!

Try Coastal Surgery Specialist in Wilmington and ECU. Those are the only two that I know of on the east coast. There is one towards Winston-Salem.
