Hello,

My name is Taylor Greene. I am currently at a BMI of 51.9.... tomorrow 9/22 I am having the gastric sleeve done.

I am nervous and excited. I am interested in hearing some of your success stories with a starting BMI over 50.

My starting BMI was originally 78.  Currently it is 53ish.  I still have a long way to go, but the sleeve has worked very well for me.

I follow a ketogenic diet post-op. I also have a diagnosis of binge eating disorder. Feel free to ask me about either!

Me!  My BMI was just about 55 when I started.  Now I'm at 29!  It's super awesome :D

I am close friends with several people who had the sleeve done around the same time as me (2008). All are doing well and have gotten to a BMI under 30 and have maintained their loss.

Hi! I am a new member to the community and am glad I found this thread. I was recently referred out to a bariatric clinic by my pain specialist and had my 1st appoint of 6 months "supervised weight loss" before moving forward with the surgery. I've chosen to have the sleeve done. My beginning BMI is 51.5, but just a few months ago it was slightly more than that. I first started seeing the pain specialist in May and he wanted me to lose 10lbs on my own before he referred me out. I am now at a 20lb loss since my first appointment with him in May so it's a start.

What forums/community pages would you guys suggest for someone who is in line for surgery, is scared to death, and needs all the support possible? My mother-in-law had the surgery in 2002 and directed me here last night. I'm thankful for that. This could be just the thing I need to keep moving forward. Thanks for any suggestions and thoughts!

Cheers,

Jessica

Welcome. Read the VSG and general discussion boards. There is a daily menu thread on the RNY board that is very active, and all are welcome. There is a weekly weigh-in thread here on the BMI over 50 board. My suggestions....
