I had rny on 12/14/04 I am diabetic and was on 98 units of insulin before surgery.. I have only had 6 units since surgery and none in over a month. My question is I keep hearing on the other board about being in ketosis and how it is a good thing when you are losing weight. I have lost 40 pounds so far and my sugars are in the normal range. I am starting to see ketones in my urine and am not sure if I should be concerned. I would have been before my surgery but I am confused, is it still a problem or just a side effect from the quick weight loss. So far jsut in the small catagory once in the moderate. Thanks to all for any help.

I assume your following the normal post op diet, protein first little room for carbs. As such ketosis is normal but do call your surgeon just to be sure. WLS works great!
