Hi there,
I am in the "research" phase of WLS and I am leaning toward the DS.... I can absolutely commit to the Vit/min sup's, the blook work, bone scans, etc....
Seems to me that DS has the best long term success ... I am 33 years old I am 5"0 250 lbs... I do NOT have any co-morbs YET... but my family history of heart desease, diabetes, strokes etc... I have an aunt who died in her 40's from heart desease, two uncles who have had major heart attacks and strokes one in his late 30's and one in his late 40's.... so its NOT looking good for me....
My question is... did you get DS in Ontario... what did you have to do...seems that the drs here all do RNY most often, sleeve only if you have a good reason, and DS you have to "argue your case"...
Did you have to argue? Someone on the ontario board said she thinks they do the surgery in two stages ... sleeve first and after a year the bypass.... ???
Any advice greatly appreciated.
