Topic: RE: Update on Michelle (TEAZ)
Just got word from Michelle. She had her revision surgery with Dr. Gagner in Montreal yesterday and got her full DS. She is thrilled. She's feeling a bit rough but that's to be expected. If you have a chance send her a message on her surgery support page.

Topic: RE: Confused about something...
I know at 70 he prefers 2 stage, no idea of where the range starts and is probably dependant on the patient and history.
Topic: RE: Confused about something...
It depends on BMI as well. High BMIs he will do in 2 parts.
Topic: RE: Ungson Pre-Op Patient Needs Some Help
I received a message from a patient who has surgery booked with Dr Ungson. She is traveling by herself and is of course nervous and has questions. She's not very computer savey, I have sent her to these parts but if anyone is willing to communicate with her by email to share their experience having surgery in Mexico with Ungson I'd greatly appreciate it. PM me and I'll pass on your email address to her.

Thanks!
Bev
Topic: RE: Self Pay - How do you "get" to a DS doc?
You are not alienated. In some cases, especially in Toronto/Hamilton, some surgeons freak out about touching you because they don't know what your surgeon has done to you, they can't perform DS. Ottawa has not been an issue. Kerry is the only person I know of who was really refused treatment for sevear pain, so she drove to MI and Dr L operated and fixed her; she had to self pay for that and OHIP did not reimburse her even though they refused treatment. This was for a bowel issue long after her surgery and there is no reason why she shouldn't have been helped in Ontario.

Worst case, if I was every in a bad situation, I would drive myself to Quebec and see with Dr Gagner or Dr Mareau and his team and have Quebec bill OHIP back ;)

I'd suggest Dr Gagner in Montreal because he does the procedure Lap and he will cost less then Dr L. Email him at gagner.michel@gmail.com he's very responsive.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me. I had DS and I live in Ontario. I had mone when it was still OHIP approved for out of country.

Topic: RE: Can I ask a question about dsfacts?
Hi Michelle,

I am the admin of DS Facts. I updated the site recently with a few newer surgeons that people recommended to me and had a long track record of patients around here. I contacted the offices for confirmation and once they responded with the info I requested, I added them to the list.

I'm always happy to look at new surgeons to add to the list. It helps if people contact me with as much info about the surgeon and contact info they have.

Not all surgeons are on my list, that's true. Some are left off because it is their choice, some because of continual complications that make me uncomfortable in recommending them, and some because they are newer and are gaining experience, which is fantastic, we need more DS surgeons.

I keep as up to date as I can but I have a full time job and other responsibilities, so sometimes it takes a bit to get things moving. Such is life =)

So thanks for bringing your surgeon's name up. If you want to PM me the info I will look into it.

Thanks.
Bev
