Topic: RE: Failed lap band - Lost & desparate
I had the lap band in 2001 in Monterrey, Mexico. One year later it had eroded into my stomach, caused a rip roaring infection, and I almost died from the ordeal. I had six subsequent surgeries to fix everything. Needless to say I have a ton of scar tissue in my abdomen!
On October 10, 2008, Dr. Roberto Rumbaut, in Monterrey, Mexico, did the Sleeve. I am doing great! He removed a lot of the scar tissue, and says that I should lose 100 pounds in one year. I have already lost 51 pounds. If I think I still need it after losing 100 pounds, he will do the bypass part of the DS when he does a tummy tuck.
So, my advice to you, is to forget the band. Dr. Rumbaut says that after one fails you, that he does not recommend another one. The Sleeve is the way to go, if you are not able to have the RNY.
I live in Monterrey, so this is a local doctor and hospital for me.
