    Pajama Run 10K Race Report

I decided to go ahead and attempt this run after really not doing anything for the last 6 weeks after some medical issues and a rib injury. Ive run...maybe 3-4 times in the last 6 weeks since my last (and first) 10K run. I was not really feeling it when I woke up - knee issues, stomach problems, general fatigue. But I went anyways because it was a fun PJ run with a decent expo/post race activities.

I definitely did much better than I thought I was going to do - I was able to run about 85% of it (and really only had to walk because of major GI issues) and maintained a pretty decent pace for me at 12:00min/mile for the first 5K and then had to slow down and take a few 30 sec walking breaks. (darn stomach ughh).

I learned that as cute as PJs are, i will never run in them again. I also learned that my running blocks are mostly mental because physically I felt strong and definitely wasnt tired after the race, but my last couple attempts at running, I usually stop after a mile or two because i"m just not feeling it. But now I feel re-energized and re- motivated to keep up my training for an October Rock N Roll 1/2. I might just have to pay to go do my long runs with a bunch of people and get some medals

Ive been doing a lot of hiking which I think has helped A LOT because I had no hip pain this run unlike the previous 10K where the pain was pretty bad.

It was alright - probably more frustrating for serious runners. The registration was out of control -they had to delay the start bc hundreds were still in line. They never made any announcements though. And then it was run along a very busy and popular bike/running path with no notice to the city residents that thousands of people would be stampeding along. I got hit by a bike who decided to ride through about 50 feet from the mass start. Other bikes ended up just sitting in the middle of the path when they got stuck.

They took down the timing equip before everyone finished and had more beer than water after the race.

    It was still fun though.
