4 weeks Post-Op and going back to the gym.

So I have gone back to the gym to make sure I'm hitting my 30 min cardio on treadmill or elliptical minimum and then a 30 min weight training on upper body one day then lower body the next and visa versa. When in doubt if I'm truly hurting I'll hit the pool for some light to medium laps. QUESTION: Is there anything that I should be watching out for?? The only one I am unsure of is the sit ups and crunches so I haven't tested that YET but I have done zero weight on the ab machine just to get the motion and stretch in. Just wondering how maybe some of you here have approached returning to exercise and in what kind of time frame? So I can be realistic with myself.

I walked until one month out. After that I took it slow increasing amount exercise or reps, but I did basically everything. Never found anything that I couldn't do because of the surgery. Found plenty of things I couldn't do because fat/out of shape...

My surgeon said only walking for the first 6 weeks, so that's what I did. Then I started incorporating everything else.

Go slow, be gentle with yourself. You're still healing and you will tire easily.

Hi, 

after i had my bypass I waited about 3 weeks to start on crunches and about a week longer for planks and such. 

I never use the abdominal weight machine because this machine wether it's made by nautilus or someone else is made for men. 

It builds your abdominal muscle outward so it can be seen , thus six pack abs and all that , I'm especially staying away from the rotating abdominal machine which builds muscle in your waist and I don't need it there
