I was sleeved Jan 12th 2016. I am feeling great and have been taking walks for my exercise, but I want to do more. I am still pretty heavy, out of the hospital I was 461. Anyone have any moves you can do in the comfort of your own home? I have been doing squats based on a friends recommendation, can you lose weight with squats?

How about exercise bands, when you are cleared of course? I wasn't cleared for anything but walking for 4 weeks. I'm allowed to use bands now but only a couple times a week and only for 20 minutes. We still aren't consuming a lot of calories so we are somewhat limited.

Please check with you doctor on the squats but yes you can lose and tone up with squats. Walking right now is the best thing you can do until you get clearance to start exercising

Lots of bodyweight exercises can be done at home.

Lots of good stuff on youtube and cable....exercise along with the instructors on your television.

As already stated, though.....walking is your best bet while you are healing.

Has your doctor cleared you for squats?  I was only allowed to walk for the first 6 weeks post-op.

Weight loss is at least 90% diet.  So focus on that and walking now.

I enjoy Just Dance.  Gets me moving my upper body more than just swinging my arms while walking.

Once my restrictions are listed (at a month), I'll be doing the My Peak Challenge workouts.  http://www.mpc2017.com/  They've got variations for all the exercises and it's a very supportive community.  The moves and variations are all demonstrated on video with the coaches.

I would start with some low impact aerobics. Leslie Sansone has some Walk Away the Pounds DVDs that are good. Here is a free one that is on You Tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYuw4f1c4xs

This is a 3 mile one, I would maybe start with just one mile until you build up some stamina. Good luck!
