    OOoohhhh Alaska sounds fun :)

    Just some ideas but you might be able to rent a bike somewhere at least to get a few rides in over the month. And maybe see if there are any community pools you can do some lap swimming in.

    Saturday - 1000 yard swim and a 9.5 miler ride brick workout - wasnt expecting to jump on the bike right after I got out of the pool, but I guess that was the plan, so I ended up biking in my swim suit (just threw my cyclling clothes over it) - BAD IDEA. 

    Hiking tomorrow.

    I was supposed to do a 3 mile run this afternoon, but between being sore and ****ty nutrition (ie not eating enough) - I got on the TM and barely managed to get 2 miles in with some run intervals but it wasnt pretty.

    Before my lunch time workout today, I was tired, had a headache, was very *****y in general and DID NOT want to go. I forced myself to and by 2 minutes in, I felt better and when I finished, I was sooo glad I made myself do it.

    I'm backkk!!!  I'm done with my post-plastic surgery pity party and officially started my 12 week 1/2 marathon training today. I'm using Higdon's program which worked well for me last year.

    So - 3 mile run at a decent pace for me considering ive been....lazy the last 4 months.

    Youre doing much better than I was doing at 6 weeks.  I'm 4 months out (but I had my whole body done at once) and I'm just barely feeling strong again - my fitness obviously tanked from all the down time, but I'm starting up again.

     

    I ran my first 1/2 marathon 2 weeks before my PS and I'm just now starting to train for the 2nd. I still have MAJOR MAJOR swelling issues which makes exercise and especially running irritating and uncomfortable but...hey, what am I gonna do.

    The last thing I think about when I go running is what I look like - I'll go out, wrinkles , flab , everything - as long as im comfortable, i'm good. 

    Ive seen running skirts with shorts under neath - that might hide any wrinkles.

    Maybe it's time to change your goals. Chasing a number on the scale and obsessing over .5 lb fluctuations will drive you crazy. And you wont stick with any exercise routine for long  because there seems to be a temporary correlation with starting to work out and an increase on the scale and/or stall. 

    Exercise for the other health benefits. Set some fitness related goals that have nothing to do with your weight. You will feel much more satisfied and encouraged when you accomplish those goals, and more likely to stick with a program. Work on learning to fuel your body. 

    If you keep doing what you've been doing, you will get the same results. Being stuck in diet mentality, expecting instant results - those are known contributors.

    I have to say though that 25 lbs in six years isnt that horrible and definitely easy to reverse with the right mindset. You can do this!

    I really like UA compression capris but yeah...they dont last long which sucks.

     

    I usually get good workout clothes at Kohls and its much cheaper.

    There's no "one size fit all" as far as shoes go. There are a lot of great brands/types but you need to go to a running store and get fitted (look for a good store that has some fancy toys to do this - not just someone thats going to watch you walk/run). I prefer asics - helps with my plantar fasciitis issues and over pronating. 

    I prefer to wear spandex - both before and after my PS - to workout - at least as far as bottoms go. Under Armor compression wear is my preferred choice. They have different levels of compression - they have shorts, capris, and pants that I like. As far as shirts go, I usually just buy moisture wicking tops a size smaller than I normal wear for a little compression. I can only workout in race back type tanks though - i hate t shirts!

    Definitely start now. I didnt do C25K but I did do a similar type program to train for my 1/2 marathon. I ran that a couple weeks before I had major plastic surgery and while it was really sad to lose a lot of fitness/progress, going into surgery strong and fit was a huge help in recovery. I also trained for and did my firsst 5K a month before my VSG surgery and even though i felt like I had to start over once i recovered, it was one of the best things I did for myself. The stronger and healthier you are before any surgery - the more  you reduce the chance of complications. So go for it!

    You want to just slowly increasing your distance - don't try to go too far and push yourself toooo much right from the start but set some reasonable goals from yourself and enjoy the process. Consistency is really the key - if you keep to a schedule you might find it easier. If I don't have a schedule, I'll just pull out a bunch of excuses to skip a workout. 

    Great job for setting your sights on a 5k - it's addicting though - you've been warned!!

    My first "official" brick workout of the training - 20 miles on the spin bike (with no padded shorts, ouch), followed by a 1 mile run. Considering I pushed myself pretty hard yesterday, I was happy with this. However, I'm soooo swollen now it's not even funny and has me 2nd guessing whether I should be back in the gym yet. FML.

    I was fortunate enough to have plastics but prior - I had no pproblems stuffing all my rolls into some tight sspandex and hitting tthe gym. At some point, exercise trumps vanity.  And if people want to stare, let them. That was my philosophy. 

    Even after i got a breast lift, implants and super ccompression sports bra - my boobs still bounce. I even tthought about duct tape tonight :-p

    my treadmill usually shakes - if I run too fast, I worry more about the TM than I do me lol. 

    Great job with starting the running addiction :)
