Are  you friends with Afdonn on MFP?  She just had plastics a few weeks ago and is back running already.  I am sure she would be glad to relate the details to you.

Topic: RE: Young women and beach cruiser bikes...
I have an Earth cruiser. LOL  I bought in my pre-op non-exercise days so I could ride it on the beach without worrying about rust.  Even though I look like a dork riding now that I am riding it the street for miles I am going to stay with it till I feel it is necessary to upgrade.  It's flat here anyway so no gears needed.

Topic: RE: Thinking of Savannah Rock and Roll 1/2
Thanks Jillian.   I lknow I have to make the decision myself but not having any experience training for a race of any distance I just didn't know if it was even realistic to consider it.   There is a track club on St Simons, I hadn't even thought of joining. doh!

I think my biggest problem is I just can't wrap my head around the fact that I can do some of these things.  The fat girl is still in my head telling me I am kidding myself.  I'm ready for that ***** to move out!

Thanks for the words.  I hope we will get to meet at one of these events someday!

I am printing this for my teen equestrian daughter.  Thanks!  She gets so sick of everyone telling her riding horses is just like sitting in a chair.   A boy recently told her riding isn't a sport.  She replied, "jumping and dressage are in the Olympics, unlike football"   lol.

Topic: RE: Thinking of Savannah Rock and Roll 1/2
This may be a little too ambitious but I am seriously considering signing up for the Savannah Rock and Roll 1/2 in November.   I'm not even through week 2 of C25K (nor am I doing it comfortably!).  I know y'all are all about the challenge but is it too optimistic to think about a 1/2 only six months away?  Maybe I should concentrate on getting comfy with 5Ks then do the 1/2 next year?    Be honest and real, my feelings won't be hurt.  :)

Yep, I felt like I was just phoning in my workout last night.  I didn't have much energy and realy didn't try to dig deep and find any.

Having said that,  six months ago I wouldn't even have been in the gym.

I'm not an athlete yet, but I am working on it! :)

Do it!    If you can't run just walk it.   Most importantly, have fun!

Treadmill with walking/running intervals.  Then weights for upper body and a little bit of legs.

I am at the point that I need to lengthen/intensify my workouts.  They are getting too easy.

1 mile on the treadmill walking with intervals of running. Didn't want to do too much since today is C25K day.   Strength training - legs and abs.

Also did loads of heavy duty house cleaning..does that count?  LOL

I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer about a month before my surgery.   We started on cardio and weights right away - I went 3x week.    My beginning cardio was walking on the treadmill.

I still see him 3x week for weight training (I really could do that on my own but I love my trainer and he keeps me accountable and pushes me).  I pretty much handle my own cardio now - I have started C25K and ride my bike 1-2 days a week.

IF I haven't had anything to eat 2-3 hrs prior to my workout I will have a protein snack with a few carbs (peanut butter, hummus, etc)   I workout at 7pm so I rarely eat afterwards but I always have  a protein shake for recovery.

Enjoy embracing your inner athlete!  It is exhilarating!

Upper body weight training tonight for an hour.  Will warm up with about 20 mins on elliptical.

I did the first day of C25K last night so I may lay of the little bit of running I do on the treadmill before lifting

I really appreciate your advice and support!

Great advice, thanks.    I think I may go all in and start running and biking this week so my workouts will look like this:

    Mon-lift
    Tues - ride
    Wed- lift
    Thursday-run
    Friday - lift
Sat or Sun = maybe a litte of both?  A mini bi-athalon! lol

I have a decent fat tire bike that isn't geared but since I live in the flatland it should be fine for starting out.

I'm going to be in Savannah on Thursday for an appt. with Dr. Whipple so I am going to go by Fleet Feet and get fitted for shoes.

    Wow, whoda thunk?  :)
