I am so hungry!!! and feeling sorry for myself . . .

Well, I think I had a small amount of restriction for about 5 days after 1st fill, but now there is nothing and I am even hungrier than before!  I called my doctor and the soonest I can get in is August 23.  I swear this is real hunger, and not just head - my stomach is growling and I am ok after eating . . . for an hour. I have so little restriction that I even ate a chiken sandwich with a whole hamburger bun ( the big bakery size!) for lunch and had no problem.    I hope I can stick to plan until the 23rd.

OMG...I can't eat that much bun even now!  Yes, you sound like you definitely need a fill!  Can you try snacking on protein?  String cheese, beef jerky, tuna?  Something to fill you up and deaden that hunger.  It's real!  And you need some help!
What size band do you have? I have a VG band and it holds 11cc's. I have 6cc's and i have good restriction. So don't freak out, just find out what size band you have and also you probably need another fill. Rubina
I have a 10  cc band and he put 1cc in my 1st fill about a week and a half ago.  I weighed that bun and it was 2 1/2 ounces!  I guess I have no choice but to wait till August 23 for a fill.  I am trying to keep my food amount lower but it ain't easy.

Not to beat a dead horse but the real impt thing here is your food choice. Like Bridget said, eat protein vs carbs so you have the satisfied feeling longer.  GOOD LUCK!

If it was easy we wouldn't be having WLS! Even with the band you and i still have to make healthy food choices. We also need work on our brain and re-train the way we look at food. The band (once you get a descent fill) will ONLY prevent you from overeating at one sitting, the rest is up to you! We are all in it together, so don't feel alone sister! Rubina

Thanks for the support all!  I have not overeaten today, but I just feel like it is not enough and I really want to eat more.  Up until the last couple days I did feel sufficiently full. I do eat carbs on my diet - the nut says I am not eating too many.  I have carbs at every meal, and some snacks.  I eat about 1400 ( I am allowed up to 1600) calories, and if it was all protein and veg it would be too much protein!  Today I had the following: B - oatmeal made with one cup milk and a Tablespoon peanut butter S - hard boiled egg and a high fiber bar L - hamburger roll with chicken tenders and a slice of cheese S - sliced papaya D - 4 ounces cooked shrimp, 1 cup rice, 1/2-3/4 cup vegies, 1/2 egg S - to be determined, probably dairy - yogurt or cheese

This came in at 79g protein,1285 calories, and 33 fiber so far.

Hey gorgeous!  Tell me something...how much was your first fill?  The next?  Next?  Just curious.  I don't know how many fills you've had...just asking!

You are right, today was an unusually heavy day for the "whites."  I will try harder, I just hope I can keep this up until I get some help from my band.  Every once and a while I have to look at my scars, because otherwise I would think that I had nothing done!   I try very hard to be patient, it is hard when I have the hungries.

It should also be easier when the kid goes back to college next week, and I only need to buy food for myself.  I am fantasizing about a cupboard and fridge clean-out!  I know what those of you with families who eat bread, chips, etc. must feel like.  She even made homemade donuts for breakfast one morning to suprise me ( "I left the glaze off of yours, Mom, after frying them!")  and I did not succumb.  Geez.

Michelle... I have walked in your shoes for many weeks, and I know first hand exactly how you feel.  Physical hunger (stomach growling, etc) does not go away w/ distraction, etc.  Some things that have worked for me are:  trying to load on water.. read it here a time or too as a way to help w/hunger.  You basically gulp as much water as you can tolerate (>12 oz.) and do so until you feel full.  They say that fills the stomach enough to get the feeling of satiety.  I feels it works.  The other thing I do when things get really bad is take a protein powder (GNC brand and low in carbs, fat and calories but high in protein) and mix w/ 8 oz. fat free skim milk.  I have also found that crystal lite in water and constantle sipping on that helps.  The best of luck to you... my heart goes out.  You just have  to remember to do your part and eat sensibly and just hang in there until you can hit  "That sweet spot"........
Thank you for the advice - I will try the water loading idea.  Sometimes I feel a little like I am eating more than some, so I have no right to be hungry.  I can't help it, I am.   I decided to treat myself to hot tea with milk.  I haven't had any for so long, and a little skim milk is not terrible. It seems to help with hunger, too.

Be careful when you get that next fill.....I was exactly the same way and not losing much weight for two months. Well I had another fill alright.....can't eat anything remotely close to solid until about 3:00 p.m. after 5 days. So just make sure that you have your doc make it comfortable and not too tight. I asked for this actually and my doc warned me that I would be tight and just encouraged me to get in all the water and drink protien shakes for about three days. So it's working and I've lost 8 lbs. in 5 days so it's what I wanted. Good luck with that next fill
