What is a low profile port

I have not been banded yet and was wondering what a low profile prt is and if I should request the Dr. to put one in.....

i believe it is one with a flatter top.  I would advise against it myself . I have had a heck of a time with my port.

EVeryone had trouble finding the thing for a fill.  Each time I go in I have to only see the surgeon because he is the only one that can successfully find the thing and get a fill in.  The harder you make the port to find the harder it is to get a fill.

That is my take on it anyway.

I have a low profile port. It is just a smaller port. I have a pretty flat stomach and my Dr. knew that if I lost more weight in that area that the regular size port would be more prominent.

I am so glad he decided to go with this one. I have not had any problems with fills, no pain or discomfort in the port area, nothing.

When I read posts about port pain and other port problems it makes me wonder if all of the problems are with the bigger port, because I have had absolutely no problems with mine.

I remember reading a few posts before about having to have the port repositioned after weight
loss because it started to protrude almost like it was going to pop out of the skin.

I would definitely suggest talking with your Dr. about it.

My Dr. actually suggested the smaller one for me, but he did say that it depends on how much belly fat a person has.

If you have a lot, then more than likely he will want to go with the bigger one.
