any help for shoulder pain--now going into my neck

I had my surgery yesterday the gas pain in my shoulder is really bad. Any ideas? Is it normal for this pain to go into your neck?
Don't know what you are currently doing, but here are some ideas I've seen repeated on OH.  Walk, walk, and walk, also gas-x strips, and a heating pad.  Hope those help you, and keep us posted.  Congrats on your surgery!

I am walking and using a heating pad. Maybe I will try to send my husband for gas-x.

Gas x is a must. The gas pains were the worst for me. Walk as much as you can and take up to 8 gas x strips a day. Hope you feel better fast.

The heating pad was a big help for me, but mostly it just took time to go away.  I hope it's fast for you!
Thanks everyone. I didn't get the gas-x today hooefully tomorrow.
I didn't have the pain in my shoulders with my lap band surgery, but another abdominal surgery I had years ago gave me extreme shoulder pain because of the air pumped in during the laporascopic surgery.  The doctor at that time explained I would have the shoulder pain for several days because the air can work its way up the body before it gets out of your system.  I believe they try to remove as much as possible, but some of it gets in between your organs, etc.

Hang in there.  I know it's painful, but it will subside.

The pain is so bad my shoulder blade feels like it's on fire. I don't want to breathe because the pain is so bad.
I'm sorry.
I know the feeling. I had it the whole time I was banded... years. I still have it on occasion, actually, from diaphragmatic damage.

IF it's not gone in a couple of days, please check in with your doctor, OK?  I was told it was "just gas" for months and it caused more and more damage. I'm not telling you this to frighten you, believe me. It's important to not leave it if it's more than just gas. Right now, it's most likely from the CO2 gas... stretch a little, if you can, walk, heating pad... pain medication doesn't seem to really help with the referred left shoulder pain for most people.

FEEL BETTER SOON. I hope it goes away quickly for you.
I just got the gas-x. I hope it helps.
I had this problem for the first week after surgery, and again when they started letting me eat solid food (was still swolen and the band would touch the nerve there).

The absolute best advice I got from the nurses at my surgeon's office was sip peppermint tea while walking.  I still keep a box around because it really, really helps.  When I didn't feel like walking, I would sip the tea while holding the heating pad and that helped too.
