All the band does, and even this is not what happens for everyone, is to help you decide when to stop eating and to help reduce appetite after meals.
So it s entirely down to the band's owner to select the quality and quantity of food.
If you eat less than your body needs, and that amount is different for different people, then you will burn stored energy I.e. fat.
If you have a very slow metabolism, if you live a sedentary life, if you are on some meds which cause weight gain, if you eat too much or make poor food choices, then you will lose little or no weight.
I lost all my excess weight on 1200 a day. For others it might be 800 or 1600. But whatever individual differences there may be, it really is using more calories than you take in. For some, for the reasons above, this is much harder than for others.
