carb question -how many grams?

I have a question, I started using my fitness pal site and now can see how many carbs I am eating.
Since using this since Saturday I see my carbs are 136-179 a day.
What range is good? Am I eating too many carbs?
 Any advice?

Well that's a wide open question! Kinda depends how carb sensitive you are. I'm extremely sensitive so when I low carb I try to stay under 20-30 carbs a day. That may be too low for some. If you want to try low carbing I'd suggest dropping a few carbs a week till you notice you are losing better. Maybe start by keeping it under 100 for awhile then drop to 80 and so on. The only problem with low carbing is as soon as you add them in again the weight goes up, but some folks are able to go somewhat lower in carbs and still benefit from it. Good luck!

I agree..100 or less per day.  Make sure they are from whole grains or from low carb veggies; peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, green beans, tomatoes, etc...

For me, I keep the "bad carbs" (anything that is not a green veggie) down to about 40g (this includes fruits and low carb yogurt).  Then I get about 70 to 80g total when I include a couple of salads in the day.  Moist, dense protein really doesn't go down anymore (I so miss chicken), so I rely on ground meat and salads.  Keeping it low has helped me lose 27 pounds in the last 3 months.  I love my bariatric advantage shakes with unsweetened coconut milk and unsweet almond milk.  YUMMY

It depends how you want to do this. I have no idea how to count carbs. My way is to eat food I know to be healthy ( so I go for complex rather than simple carbs) and make sure meals are fairly balanced. So I suppose that my intake probably is fairly low carb, but I have no idea how low. Certainly not very!

My view is that if you feel good, are losing weight - then stick to the level which feels right for you. For me, forcing my eating into a strait jacket is counter productive, I just start to obsess about food.

thanks everyone. I am going to try to get my carbs down to 80 or less.
I really want to get at least 3.3 pounds off (more would be great) to hit my 70 pound mark, hopefully before my 1 year anniversary.
I passed on a fill this week, decided to wait 4 weeks to see how the summer heat works with my band.

well.... my nutritonist says 100 gms a day. That seems like a lot to me and I haven't really done that. I ate very low carb as I was loosing weight. I had my band loosened and added carbs. Since then I have struggled with some weight gain. I feel like I was too restricive while loosing and never learned to eat "like a normal person". You may want to consider a balanced diet including "good carbs" and "good fats". South Beach is a great eating plan, check out his book. Good luck!
