Does anyone know what the treatment is for gastritis if you are banded?  I have an HMO and am waiting for the authorization for an upper GI series to be done.

It will probably be the same as for an unbanded person other than they may require an unfill until the inflammation goes down.

I would think Protonix is strong enough to heal most gastritis and esophagitis, it's usually the treatment that surgeons/Gastro docs give patients with severe inflamation and GERD. It also heals erosion in the esophagus.

Also removing some saline may also help heal the gastritis by reducing pressure on the stomach.

There are other medications, but Protonix usually helps lap banders best at least me when I had gastritis with my old band.

Good luck

Original Lap Band * 9/30/2005 * 4cc 10cm band*,  lost 130 pounds. 7 Great years!

Revision surgery to AP small lap band *11/13/2012*, due to large hiatal hernia. I am hopeful about continuing my band journey uneventful and successful. I loved what my old band did for me and I am looking forward for my new band to Keep my weight downsmiley

I had gastritis at one and two years out the first time I was totally unfilled for 6 weeks and the second time for 8 weeks I was put on a PPI and than put on a PPI 2X a day.

BAND REMOVED 9-4-12-fought insurance to get sleeve and won! Sleeved 1/22/13! Five years out and trying to get that last 15 pounds back off.
