Topic: RE: What's your Ideal Size?

I got down to a tight 4...but it was too small for me...I am back at about 8-10 but want to be 6-8 after I finally get skin surgeries and all...so I need to tone a bit more. (in my spare time lol)

I put protein in my coffee in the am.  I just use the powder protein I would normally buy.  I like the chocolate peanut butter flavor in the am.

Topic: RE: Coffee

I drink my coffee every day (lol DARE someone to stand between my coffee and I) Only reflux issues I had was band too tight. Be careful and don't get talked into leaving fluid in that should come out.  I even get my first protein in my coffee each am. :)

Topic: RE: Do you keep a food log?
I was very good about tracking food for a very long time, during the time the band was giving me issues and I could eat very little it felt like at any one time I got bad about not recording it.(and most of that was food I shouldn't be eating). I am currently working on getting back in the habit of recording everything again (food and activity).  Holding myself accountable is a VERY important part of my success and failures with my weight.

Topic: RE: Slip/Removal
That's the part that most (our friends/family) don't understand when we go in and have the surgery....okay I work and I get thinner....but as much as i would love to take sole credit for it....I NEED the band to help me to control my eating disorder...I am dealing with an empty band at the moment and my scale is up a few pounds.....part of it was dumb choices...."omg I can actually taste xyz again!" a big part of it is not having my band to help me limit those things that are okay to have in moderation.

Hopefully your friend learned all the rules and learned them well and that can be a big help for her, she will have to work double time at making good choices and learning to say that negative word even more...NO. :)   Have her log her food, that's a big help for me to see how much of what i eat is carbs and fat it helps me monitor what is going in.

I eat alot of nuts and such as my snacks but now with no fluid in the band one handful can quickly become 4! (I'm not proud of that...I am simply honest.)   So I am making better choices and my numbers going back where they should be....but it is definitely a wake up call....  the FAT GIRL in me...she is still there and she will still work against me if I give her enough lead way....on that note...she and I are headed to the gym soon. :)

Topic: RE: How did you set your goal?
My doctor had one goal he said I would be lucky to lose 50 lbs.... pfft! I set another goal...it was an unrealistic goal but it was MY goal. :)  So I two goals....what I want.... and then what I REALLY want.....

And then the weight started coming off... and I have lost 178lbs.... I am not at my goal (either of them) BUT I can wear the cloths that I thought I would be in at the "REALLY WANT" goal.... so I am happy with where I am. I think i will drop another chunk when I get the funding to have my skin surgery...but the numbers dont really matter so much to me now... I feel good about where I am going and what I have accomplished... even now with an empty band and I have put a few lbs on...I'm okay with that.... I feel pretty good about me. I still have work to do...but I am getting where I want to go. :)  I am working to get back on track and being fairly successful with that as well. :)

Sorry if this is way longer than you were wanting.  Set several goals, and celebrate EVERY POUND!!! EVERY OUNCE OF SUCCESS!!! You will ROCK YOUR BAND!!!!

I shared this elsewhere but so very happy about it wanted to share it here! Due to the kindness of donors my students will be receiving $500 worth of sensory equipment to use in the classroom! :) Pretty cool huh? Its one of those things you apply for but don't really think you will get so you sorta pu**** to the back....received the notice the other day.....the items are on their way :)

WOOT!!!!!  So often special needs stuff is put at the bottom of the list...not because we are forgotten but because we are such a small group out of many. I am doing all I can to find any extra resources that will get me and my students what we need even if the county is unable to provide it. :)

Thank you Donors at donorschose.org !!!!!! :)

The world seems to be spinning faster ATM...There was a time I could work all day, do school in afternoon, hit the gym, raise kids, apply for grants, date, write, and still have tons of time for posting on OH and fb....lately I cant seem to get the minimum done....thinking it will all settle as I get the classroom like I want it and then get my gym times back on track (too many kids in pool ATM with school being on vacation for many districts, makes it hard to work.)

HUGS!!! I am so sorry you are going through this I know it must be rough.   Do your best to stick to your high protein and low carb (I know I'm preaching to the choir) Its not gonna be a walk in the park, but I believe in you. Hang in there, don't let any little cheat in...NOT ONE little carb...that's where they get me...the "little carbs".  It wont be tons of fun but it will be so worth it in the end.  Feel free to message me if you need encouragement or just an ear to chat with. :)

Topic: RE: Pulling a "Swoosh"
Life can be stressful, and discouraging at times (for a variety of reasons).  Working in a year round school we are back in the building getting the classrooms ready for Monday morning when our students come back. Sitting my mess of a room this afternoon trying to decide what I was going to tackle next a teacher friend walks in.

"HA!" He said, " I just pulled a Swoosh!"

Excuse me? (he tends to be a smart tail so I am expecting it to be  him picking on me.

"Well, I am taking some computer classes and was in my classroom setting it up and Becky came by she was asking about Mason (his new baby son), and about the classes i was taking...then she looked around my room and shook her head...even your room is organized she told him.....  You know you you remind me of?  .......Swoosh, she does all this crazy time consuming crap, going to school, weight loss, volunteering, writing, teaching, and  always helping others and STILL comes out making it look easy..... you people make me sick."

He grinned at me.... "see...I pulled a Swoosh."

I told him how great he was and how proud of him I am (he is really working hard to find ways to better life for his new family)

But it was funny...here I thought he was gonna 'pick on' me and in reality he (and others) think I do some pretty cool stuff. :)  Was really nice to hear  :)  Funny that he thinks that living up to being me is "something strive-worthy" all I could do was smile :)

Congrats on working on getting where you want to be with your weight :)   I remember that stage :)
It is important to do your research and make sure you are getting the choice you want. :) I am quite happy with my band and the results I have received but it isn't a fix all :) I go to the gym and have fixed my food choices.  Do you have a date set  yet? Congrats and keep me posted.

Topic: RE: Lap Band Refund
Would be great, and if I could get my money for every diet pill that didn't work, or "as seen on TV" didn't stand up to its claims.... or every second hand car that leaves someone sitting.... or relationship that turns bad.....or anything that we expect to turn out one way in life and it doesn't live up to par.

Thing is there are no guarantees in life, we do what we can with what we have, for some things work out and yet others have to find a different way to go.  I know many people with many types of surgeries that would love to have their money back because "it failed".   The band as with everything else in life is not guaranteed foolproof for all, it sucks for those that it doesn't help but I rejoice for those that it does.  In my ideal world I wouldn't have a weight issue in the first place and wouldn't have to worry about it, or I could use Weigh****chers and get control that way, or hypnosis and control that way, or any number of other options.

...as for me and my fat...its the band that helps us the most (well my fat isn't to fond of it but my butt and waistline sure are!) :)

(But do I wish we could get money back for things that don't work for us as individuals...SURE DO..I would be first in line for many things :)

Topic: RE: Progress on the inside :)
I have had great success with my band, food choices, and  workouts I do at the gym (band doesn't get all the credit for my journey). I mean I am less than half the girl I once was so that's pretty nice.  Still like so many I look in the mirror and and wish the skin were tighter or the girls didn't decide to become bowling ball bags and sag in the middle...

But most days I just go through my day and do what I do...I don't tend to dwell on the things that have not changed yet, but they do cross my mind when I see someone with more of what I want to look like... (generally she is about 20 and has obviously never given birth)...ANYHOW

Steve's sisters family is visiting from Conn. and I had several trips planned for us,
Sunday we went to Concord Mall (its a nice big mile long mall),
Monday we went Laptop hunting for my son for the better part of the day (Stan is a comp junky and was able to get Joey a great machine),
Tuesday we went to the Zoo and walked all day.
Wednesday was the family reunion that we had at my house since I have the acre back yard for everyone,
Thursday we hit Carowinds to walk around and hit the coasters and waterpark,
Friday we drove to the beach and spent the day at Myrtle Beach walking and swimming in the ocean.

Today is Saturday and our company is gone....and I just realized something...the old Swoosh would not have been able to walk all those places or ride on those coasters or have even CONSIDERED putting on that swimsuit and walking around in front of all those people...I mean what would they think?

LOL oh ya that's right...NEW SWOOSH doesn't care what they think...and spent no time dwelling on how different she is or isn't from everyone else.  She walked and talked around the animals with her son, boyfriend, and extended family.  She had 42 at her home and wasn't worried about how much she ate in front of them.  She rode all the big coasters and NOT once had a problem fitting in the seats! She swam at the waterpark and didn't feel out of place.  She walked the two mile trail at the zoo and g ranted her knees hurt a bit when done but after the knee injuries and surgeries....acceptable...the knees held up and I was able to do it!  Walked the beach all day, laid on the sand, swam in the ocean and flirted with Steve....it was very nice :)

Have I lost any weight this week...you know I don't know....but I know my confidence is doing better :)   Going shopping today for things to rebuild a wall in my barn and might hit the drive-in tonight :)    Its been a very nice week :)
