I've gained 22 lbs since September, so I'm in with you!  I need to prepare though by getting the stuff out and the right stuff in the house, which will take a couple of days.

I know something is up with the carb addiction thing.  Like some political and religious topics, most people just don't want to hear it.  I'm good until I indulge in simple carbs & sugar.  One taste and I spiral downward until I make a concious decision to fight.  It's only brought under control after a 7-10 day detox.  That's my personal living experience.  Some people can do them in moderation, but I'm an all or nothing girl.  I'm just not made like that.

I'm still trying to see what Skinnyville is like.  Hopefully I'll make it there one day and not just for a visit.  Thanks for the info.

Hi There, 

First of all, you've done so well so far, congratulations to you! 

The best way for me to control my weight when I'm off track or my schedule gets messed up and throws my meal & exercise plan off is to control my carbs and sugar.  Also, stay on top of your water.  I have a 3 liter jug that I refill and put on my desk.  It reminds me how much I have to finish for the day and it's always in front of me.  Be creative and get activity in whenever possible.  Take a walk around the office or use the bathroom on the other side of the building.  You can also park far away from stores etc, but be aware of your surroundings especially with it getting dark earlier (daylight savings) and the increased crime during the holiday season (how unfortunate, sorry).  As a final thought, don't let a number on the scale or in your jeans define your success or happiness during this season.  Enjoy your family, loved ones & new life.  And, do something kind for someone else.

I use to do all those thing also..

Additionally, I use to,

- Make excuses so I wouldn't have to go to social gatherings.
- Make sure I ate well before going to social gatherings so I could control my eating while I was there.
- Pretend I didn't see someone I knew from my past.
- Only go to the drive thru because I didn't want the judgement of people in the restaurant.
- Always make a big joke if my size caused an issue to cover my embarrassment. Example- I can't fit in that booth, amusement ride, etc.
- Make jokes about being "big sexy" when I felt the complete opposite.

Now I,
- Lost 100 lbs
- Go out, dance, laugh and pose for full length pictures.
- Eat well at social gatherings
- Call out to people I see from my past
- Plan for and make my breakfast, lunch & dinner almost every day.
- Don't eat fast food except for occasional Chik Fil A nuggets.
- Am not scared to go places or try new things, and I don't feel like I have to make fat jokes because I'm close to normal human size and I fit in almost all average size places.
- Feel better about myself though not sexy very often. 
- Still sometimes joke about my sexiness.
- Am a work in progress and doing this thing day by day.
- Feel grateful for the support I give to/get from my wls family.
- Am premenstrul- right now..

My heart truly goes out to you given all the turmoil and tragedy you endured in the past few years. 

My wls date was 12/09 and I've regained some weight and feel a bit out of control at times.  Just don't throw in the towel.  The fact that you've returned to these boards show that you still have some fight left in you.  Keep reading, connect with positive individuals, keep pressing forward and most of all DON'T give up on yourself.  You've made it through all of that and you're still here another day to try again.

Like you, I make some choices that are not always the best.  For the majority of the time, I do well with sugar/carb restriction.  I still struggle with portion control with every pound I loose (and less restriction).  I think I have the "clean plate club" branded on me somewhere.  I only rarely don't finish what's in front of me (unless I don't like it or think it's too bad for me).  I also eat until I feel restriction, which I know better than to do.  And, I'll graze until I finish the rest.  I have to make concious effort to recognize my soft stop signals.  And, as I think about it now, I realize I'm often preoccupied, multi-tasking, and just not concious when I'm eating all the time.

They're having a charity bakesale today at work.  I'm in my office abstaining as I type right now  (, God, Help me)..  I'm holding out for a cake indulgence for my birthday next month.  I'm going to have a rich piece of carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.  My band will stop me from eating the whole piece and I'll have the remaining piece mid morning the next day with a cup of tea.  (Throwing the other half away is not an option).  I also already know I'm going to enjoy eating it and drinking tea at the same time.  I'll spend the 10 days after that detoxing from the sugar.

I know these practices are habit forming and can have dangerous consequences.  Thanks for the post and making me articulate my reality.  I feel myself coming into conciousness..

And that butt was a freebee?!  People pay big bucks for them.

Congrats on coming out.  I kept my wls a secret from almost everyone except for my parents, husband, and an out of state friend.  I made a choice to avoid the scrutiny of others.  I wonder if I'll ever come out..  And, if I did, I wouldn't know how to do it.

Congratulations on your success and for reaching out. 

NEVER let your disappointment trap you from seeking the help you need- ESPECIALLY here (among your community) and with your doctor.  Every one of us have been there (pre and post WLS).  If they haven't, they will, just keep living..  It's often when we get comfortable and feel like "I got this" that we start to backslide into some old habits.  As the saying goes, recognizing the problem is the first step. 

Fear of the scale is an ugly monster, but it's only a mental fear and negative perception.  Hop on.  One of my favorite quotes is, "Courage doesn't always roar; sometimes it's the quiet voice that says I'll try again tomorrow".   We are all fighting this thing. 

Gather yourself and formulate your plan, then press forward.

That was fun.  I don't think I eat 2600 calories per day to maintain this weight.  However, it did help me look at my program and consider ways to improve it.
