Just wondering.........how would your health suffer from getting a bypass???

Now as far as the sweets........My best advise is DON'T BUY IT! If u don't see it your not as tempted. Now I love sweets! And if it is around I will usually eat it. Not as much as I used to, but it's still a temptation. By not bringing it into the house I am not faced with that option as often. It makes it much easier for me!

If u want something sweet try a light yogurt or greek yogurt, sf pudding, nsa fruit ****tail, something like that. I also use the Davinci sf syrups and add to protein drinks or yogurts.

Good luck!
Topic: RE: Port Flipped?
I got my band exactly 1 mo. b4 u did. I noticed that it had moved. The last 2 fills they have had difficulty hitting it since it has flipped some. I have no idea if they will even b able to hit it if I were to have another fill. Not that the fills do me any good anyway!

I'm really worried about Pepsi.  She posted that she has internal bleeding and then I never saw her post again or follow up with her own thread.  I had her phone number but I can't find it.

Anyone have updates?

Was her bleeding because of a band complication???

I don't see the name "Maria" anywhere in that sentence.  Do you?  Do you think maybe that sentence offends you because it has the ring of truth?

it is true that the band doesn't work for everyone.

And that statement may very well apply to you, too, Maria.  In which case, I would think that you need to address that issue with your surgeon and, if you are willing, share his/her comments or recommendations with everyone here on OH.  Bandsters who are experiencing the same challenges or frustrations as you would surely benefit more from hearing constructive suggestions than from hearing over and over again that the band is useless.

~Do you think maybe that sentence offends you because it has the ring of truth?~

No............I do not. If I were NOT putting the effort that I have into working WITH the band then why have I lost 65 lbs.?????????? I am not one of the bandsters that thinks all I have to do is get the band and the weight just magically starts falling off. I am not one that is stupid enough to think that I don't need to get fills! I have lost this weight b/c I have completely changed my eating habits. I now eat much healthier. I also limit my portions. Since I still AFTER ALMOST A FULL YR. have not reached the "sweet spot" I feel like I am starving most of the time limiting the portions like I do!!! I did NOT pay $15,000 to put myself on a diet and feel like I am starving! I paid what I did to have help making me healthier as I do what I need to do to change my eating habits to work with the band.

~And that statement may very well apply to you, too, Maria.  In which case, I would think that you need to address that issue with your surgeon and, if you are willing, share his/her comments or recommendations with everyone here on OH.~

Now why would u think that I would not have addressed the issues with my surgeon??? That would be kind of stupid to NOT do that now wouldn't it?! N u want me to also share his comments with u..........ok. He is clueless as to why I do not have restriction and we have discussed revision. I know u don't want to hear that word...........but u asked!

~Bandsters who are experiencing the same challenges or frustrations as you would surely benefit more from hearing constructive suggestions than from hearing over and over again that the band is useless.~

The OP specifically asked for the opinions of the forum members. I am one of those members. I gave him MY opinion. My opinion is that the band has been useless for me! Why do u not want me to state my opinion???

I've had band surgery and not VSG.  I'm sure that Midwesterngirl/bubblebutt, who has had both but has me blocked, will give you 25 or 9 million cents of her opinion.  I'm very happy with my band and I would do it all over again.  I used to think that VSG would be my 2nd choice until I learned (from midwesterngirl) that acid reflux is extremely common in VSG patients.  I couldn't tolerate that.

Objectively, the VSG is good because it doesn't require fills to achieve restriction, and it seems to reduce the production of hunger hormones like grehlin.  On the other hand, if your VSG doesn't provide enough restriction, what are you going to do next?

Good luck!

Jean just wondering what part of the band failure that u feel that I am responsible for???

I am self pay also. It has been devestating! To have to wait as long as I did to have the WLS and then to find out that it is completely useless?! Needless to say........it has been an extremely difficult yr.!!!

I wish u the best of luck with whatever WLS u decide to go with!

If I had it to do over again I would DEFINATLY go with VSG instead of the band! I got my band almost a yr. ago. I just had my 13th fill.........still no restriction..........and now the port has flipped some also! This has been a complete waste of time and MONEY for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm going to go to a different support board for a bit.  I never intended to hurt Zee nor did I want Lynn or Bubble to hurt anyone else.  They know they are guilty of coming here under the guise of helping (and I hope they do help the person that needs it), but they also get their digs in.

If you would need me I'm but a click away.  Just PM me.  Have a great weekend and I'm sorry I even read Lynn's replies.  I didn't mean to upset anyone (other than letting them know i know what they are up to).

And for the record, if you are suffering a band related problem I have never and will never blame you.  God, I pray it never happens to me, so why would I blame an individual that is sick?  I live with sick and it isn't fun.

Lynn and bubble are a wealth of knowledge (and sarcastic women when they want to be).

*And for the record, if you are suffering a band related problem I have never and will never blame you.*

I wish this were true. However, I do remember posts u made about me b/c u didn't like me posting my band problems.

It constantly amazes me how u criticize some of the others on this forum for being "negative"...........however it appears to me that u create such negativity with so many of your post and the way u insult ppl on here.

In fairness, I will say that I have seen some excellent posts that u have made, and I know u have been very helpfull and supportive to many on the forum.

I do realize that b/c of your medical condition that u feel the band was the only option for u. Weather u want to beleive it or not the band can have a LOT of post-op complications! I sincerely hope that u have NONE of those!!! U have been extremely successfull with the band thus far and I hope that continues.

Although we definatly have our differences.............u do contribute to this forum. Being a public forum there will always be controversy on here. There is no need for u to go to a different forum. U should be able to come here and post your possitive experiences just as I should be able to come here and post about my problems with the band, or post to support someone else that is having band problems.

Your feeling may be hurt now......mine were hurt in the past..........but I do NOT post this to hurt your feelings. I just post it in hopes that u will be more considerate and less judgemental of those that are having less than optimal success with their bands!!!

I am not trying to make enemies!

No one here knows my educational background or even what I do!

I spent 3 years researching ALL surgeries before I decided on the band. I do have a metobolic disorder that prohibits my weight loss.

As much as you have the right to your opinin....I have a right to mine.

I speak up when I am passionate about something! No one is going to scare me off this site! This site is my tool for positive support.

So you can tear my words apart line by line and make yourself look stupid!

I do not need to explain myself or drop to your level!

*I do have a metobolic disorder that prohibits my weight loss.*

I don't understand how u are making this statement now but in your last post u stated: "THERE IS NO WAY IF YOU EAT THE RIGHT FOODS AND GT THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF EXERCISE THAT YOUU WILL NIT LOSE WEIGHT!"???

Now as far as  making enemies...........I did not post the response I did to your last post b/c I consider u an enemy, or want to become your enemy. I posted b/c some of the statements u made were NOT true! I do NOT approve of blaming the bandster b/c of issues they may have with the band! I will admit that SOME problems are completely the responsibility of the bandster and not a failure of the band in any way (If they won't get fills or change eating habits for example). However u seemed to make a blanket statement on your last post .............something like......if the band did nothing for u then u did nothing for the band. Well that is entirely NOT true!!! There are many ppl out there with band issues that they are not responsible for! It is not fair to blame them. Do u not think that they are not upset enough about their band not working for them??? How much worse do u think it makes them feel to have ppl like u and several others on the band tell them it is THEIR fault?!?!?!

Now u are very new with the band and I know u hope to be very successfull with it just as I hoped. Unfortunatly..........that is NOT always the case! That being said...........I do honestly hope u are one of the successfull ones. I wish only the best for ALL WLS'ers no matter what surgery they choose. I only hope that if u do have band issues that u will be met with kindness and support instead of ATTACKS that some of us have had to endure when posting our experiences!!!

OK, I AM OFFENDED! I KNOW EVERYONE HAS THEIR RIGHT TO THEIR OWN OPINIONS AND I RESPECT THAT.

AS FAR AS I KNOW, NO ONE ON HERE IS A DOCTOR OR A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL!

QUIT COMING TO THE LAP BAND FORUM AND BASHING THE BAND!!!

GO TO THE MAIN FORUM OR TO THE REVISION FORUM!

WE NEWLY BANDED PEOPLE DON'T NEED TO HEAR IT!

WE CHOSE THE BAND BECAUSE WE CHOSE TO WORK FOR IT!!! WE CHOSE TO CHANGE THE WAY WE EAT! WE CHOSE TO DIET FOR LIFE! TO AVOID SUGAR, CARBS, FAT, AND EDUCATE OURSELVES ON A NEW WAY TO EAT!

WE HERE ARE NOT STATISTICS! WE ARE PEOPLE! AL DIFFERENT!

AS FOR ME....ONCE I CAN GET TO THE SIZE I WANT....THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL I AM GOING BACK TO 300 POUNDS!

THE BAND DOES NOT ALWAYS FAIL PEOPLE! PEOPLE FAIL THE BAND!

I COULD HAVE CHOSE A BYPASS, SLEEVE, RYN OR SOMETHING ELSE! I CHOSE TO WORK HARD AND TEACH MYSELF RIGHT FROM WRONG.

HAVE SOME RESPECT! ALL SURGERIES FAIL IF THE PERSON FAILS! I HAVE HAD 2 FAMILY MEMBERS LOSE OVER 100 LBS FROM BYPASS AND REGAINED THE WEIGHT!

SO BACK OFF! I KNOW THERE CAN BE SOME ACTUAL BAND ISSUES...BUT IF THE BAND DID NOTHING FOR YOU...WELL YOU DI NOTHING FOR THE BAND!!!

THERE IS NO WAY IF YOU EAT THE RIGHT FOODS AND GT THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF EXERCISE THAT YOUU WILL NIT LOSE WEIGHT!

A DIET PILL IS A PHYSICAL REMINDER THAT YOU ARE ON A DIET. YOU PUT IT IN YOUR MOUTH 30 MIN BEFORE YOU EAT TO REMIND YOURSELF YOU ARE WATCHING WHAT YOU EAT! THE BAND IS THE SAME THING! IT IS A "DIET PILL" IN YOUR BODY REMINDING YOU EVERY TIME YOU EAT THAT YOU ARE TO WATCH WHAT YOU EAT!

A FEW POST OVER THE PAST 2 DAYS HAVE ME STEAMING MAD!

I JUST HAD TO SAY IT!

SO IF YOU WANT TO BASH THE BAND...DO IT SOMEWHERE ELSE!

THANK YOU!

*SO BACK OFF! I KNOW THERE CAN BE SOME ACTUAL BAND ISSUES...BUT IF THE BAND DID NOTHING FOR YOU...WELL YOU DI NOTHING FOR THE BAND!!!*

U have got to b kidding?! U really think that most ppl put theirselves through the pain and expense of a WLS and put no effort at all into it?! Really?!?!?!

Now I will admit that there are a few morons out there that this would apply to. They don't get fills/don't change eating habits/continue to eat with meals/etc. But MOST of the bandster do put the effort into it!

How do u get that "you di nothing for the band" if they had a slip? If they had a leak?? If they had errosion??? Etc..........

*THERE IS NO WAY IF YOU EAT THE RIGHT FOODS AND GT THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF EXERCISE THAT YOUU WILL NIT LOSE WEIGHT!*

That is true most of the time. Not always. There are certain medical issues that can interfere with that. So here again...........BLAMING THE BANDSTER FOR PROBLEMS THEY CANNOT CONTROL! Not a very nice thing to do!

U ppl need to think about what u are doing! Some of u get on here and rant and rave about "band bashing"..............WELL U ARE BASHING OTHER BANDSTERS!!!!!! But of course that's perfectly ok! Lol. It's not bashing if U are the ones doing it now is it???

i'd rather hit the MB or other places here - than others in my own backyard point fingers.

So sorry u do not feel comfortable to come to the band forum to post. It should be a benefit to ALL bandsters.......NOT just those that are having no problems!

I do understand how u were made to feel though. I have been told on here that........

1. I am too stupid to know how the band is suppose to work.
2. I don't "work my band".
3. I obvioiusly am doing something wrong.
4. I am a "band basher" b/c I post my experiences with the band.
5. That I should NOT post on the band forum.

Etc!
Etc!
Etc!

Perhaps those of us that have band problems should have a seperate forum so WE can get support and NOT get attacked when we feel the need to bring up our band issues??? After all............that way we would not be offending/insulting/scarring all the happy bandsters!

Having WLS fail feels horrible and it feels worse when you can't go back to the place where you supported people over the years to get support.  It is like being told you were  raped because the rapist perceived you as "sexy" and that means you wanted and deserved it. "It's your fault - you didn't follow the "rules" and now you want to be a "bitter belly" -  YOU want to ruin it all for us because you've been wounded by a perpetrator that just keeps on offended  . . . wait a minute, as long as it's not me I can't feel it then it is not true.  In fact, you are an evil liar that wants to taint the environment with evil.

You know what, I'm off this Lap Band board for good.  God knows that I'd love it if you all succeeded and kept your Bands forever.  And I don't speak with fork tongue.  I also do not make the daily or almost daily posts revealing slips, removals etc.  It's fact happening and not "bitter bellies".  Funny I knew this when things were fine with my band - I knew that I could have success and that these people were telling the truth AND that did not make them bad.

I'm done!
ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE  I was not referring to you at all!!!

YOU ARE ALWAYS HELPFUL and I always say how bad I feel for you!  OMG, I never said it was your fault!  Jesus, I can't win.  I'm sorry you feel I'm blaming you.  I think you're asset.  I never blamed you once.

there is one person I said that could possibly change her eating habits and then she would start losing weight again.  ONE person.  Anyone that has had a bad band experience i totally support.  I wish you knew it wasn't you that I was upset with.  LYNNNNNNN...she comes and says things that scare the hell out of people and does it to spite certain other banders.  MWG as well.

Read the contract very carefully before u sign!!! VERY! Some contracts are still valid even if they close down. Some have a clause that if your location closes down that they contract stays in effect and they "let u" go to a different location. Some contracts state that if there is a different one w/i 50 miles that they take over your contract. I don't know about u but I would NOT drive 50 miles to go to a different gym!!! Also, not familiar with the Vegas area but most Curves in the SE do not seem to stay in business long!
